Cheongwadae (wortwörtlich "Blaues Haus") ist gekennzeichnet durch die blauen Dachziegel und befindet sich am Berg Bugaksan. Es besteht aus einem Hauptgebäude, dem Gebäude Yeongbingwan, dem Pavillon Chunchugwan, einer großen Rasenfläche (Nokjiwon), dem Mugunghwa-Hügel und den sogenannten "sieben Palästen". Alle Gebäude haben einen einzigartigen architektonischen Stil, der an die traditionelle koreanische Baukunst anknüpft. Das Dach des Hauptgebäudes ist mit 150.000 der blauen Ziegel gedeckt, die einzeln gebrannt wurden und einen Zeitraum von mehreren hundert Jahren unbeschadet überstehen sollen.
