Aufgrund seines Wertes als erstes Dorf innerhalb des Westtors der Festungsmauer entschloss sich die Stadt Seoul jedoch dazu, das Dorf in ein Museumsdorf umzuwandeln und den Stadtbewohnern Seouls ein historisches und kulturelles Gut zu hinterlassen. Die Gebäude des Dorfes wurden so gut wie möglich in ihrem Originalzustand erhalten, und so kann man moderne Gebäude und Hanoks in 100 Jahre alten Gassen finden.
