Cheoksan Hot Springs Zone, located in Sokcho, is a village dedicated to hot spring tourism. Key attractions like Cheoksan Spa & Hotel, Cheoksan Hot Spring Bath, and Footbath Park have been sequentially built to shape the area as it is known today. It offers a unique expereince where visitors can soak in warm hot springs while viewing the snow-capped Seoraksan Mountain, expecially during the cold winter months. Opened in 1985, Cheoksan Spatel is a natural hot springs with strong alkaline water at 53℃, formed 4000 m below sea level. The water is said to be highly effective in the removal of impurities and treatment of skin conditions. Rooms available include both bedrooms and ondol (under-the-floor heating system) rooms. Each room has a small bath supplied with hot springs water in the bathroom. Guests are also offered a single-use ticket to the hot springs area.
There are plenty of onsite facilities as well, from the hot springs area with many different types of baths to ladies-only spa therapy at Spa Healing Center, walking paths through a pine grove, and an observation deck with a view of Seoraksan Mountain’s Ulsan Peak. Other attractions, such as Sokcho Museum, Seoraksan Botanical Garden, and Cheongchoho Recreation Area, is reachable by car in 10 min.

This sizable bakery café in Sokcho is known for its spacious and airy interior, which is adorned with a variety of plants. The high ceilings contribute to the open and luminous ambiance. One of the café's most striking features is the spectacular view of Seoraksan Mountain’s Ulsanbawi Rock and the surrounding green fields, visible through a window wall. Micheongolgyegok Valley (미천골계곡)

Micheongolgyegok Valley starts from the Yangyang area and ends right before Guryongnyeong Pass. With not many visitors here, the valley is left in a pristine condition. The area is famous for its rich forest, clean water, uniquely shaped rocks, wild flora and fauna, underground mineral water, cultural heritages of the ancient SIlla kingdom, locally produced honey and other forest products. The Micheongolgyegok Valley Recreational Forest is 5,652,000㎡ in size filled with broadleaf trees. At the entrance of the valley is Seollimwon Temple Site, which was originally established under the reign of King Beopheung of Silla and then closed at the end of the Goryeo dynasty. Other relics include a stone lamp, 3-story stone pagoda, Honggakseonsa Monk Pagoda, and a stupa.

Yangyang Salmon Festival is a festival celebrating one of Yangyang’s specialties, salmon. The festival is held in mid-October each year, at Namdaecheon Stream, Yangyang. Namdaecheon Stream sees the greatest salmon run in Korea, hosting more than 70% of the salmon returning to Korea. Salmon born in Namdaecheon Stream grow for 3 to 5 years in the North Pacific, and return to Namdaecheon Stream in fall through the East Sea to lay eggs and face the end of their lives. Yangyang Salmon Festival joins these fish in their powerful, vigorous display of life as they return to their native river. The festival starts with Yongwangje, a traditional rite, and offers a bevy of experience programs, including the most famous program of salmon hand-catching. Seeing the salmon drifting and darting between one’s hands is certainly an experience that can only be had in very few places around the world. Salmon ecology experience offers an interesting insight into the growth and movement of salmon, and other activities like salmon tasting, salmon rubbing, and salmon ecology exhibitions keep the spirit of the festival alive.
