Provence Village is a themed village that began with the opening of a chic French restaurant in 1996. It has expanded to include a famous bakery cafe, Italian and Korean restaurants, shops, colorful murals, a beautiful garden, and romantic lighting displays in the evenings.

Each unique shop is connected to other shops in the village. An art studio offers a wide array of dishes used in cafes and restaurants in the village; the Living Gallery not only decorates Provence Village, but also makes decorative items such as hand-painted ceramics, available for purchase; and the European bakery boasts fresh, delicious breads. Each shop is an independent unit with a unique design concept. The Living Gallery offers shops selling ceramics, flowers, and herbs, while the Fashion Gallery consists of shops offering clothing, accessories, and interior design items. Located in the Imjingak Tourist Complex, the Paju Imjingak Peace Gondola is Korea’s first gondola to cross over the Civilian Control Zone. Connecting Imjingak Resort and Camp Greaves, the gondola is part of the peace and security tourism initiative, offering visitors a unique perspective on DMZ’s history and natural landscapes. As visitors glide across the river, they can see the barbed wire fences, surveillance posts, and other remnants of division. In addition to the general cabin, visitors can enjoy the transparent crystal cabin, which provides a unique and memorable experience.

Located in Paju, Jangneung is the tomb of King Injo (1595-1649, reign 1623-1649), the 16th ruler of the Joseon dynasty, and Queen Inyeol.

King Injo took the throne in 1623 after having overthrown the previous king, Gwanghaegun, in a military revolt. During his reign, King Injo faced challenges from two foreign invasions in 1627 and 1637. He died in 1649 in Changdeokgung Palace.

Panmunjeom is the site of the Armistice Agreement that signaled the ceasefire of the Korean War (1950-1953) and is located in the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), just 50 kilometers north of Seoul. It remains a venue for talks between South Korea and North Korea, allowing visitors to observe North Korean troops up close. Since it is a civilian-controlled area, individual tours are not permitted; they must be arranged in advance through a tour operator designated by the United Nations Command. Visitors must bring valid identification, such as a passport or alien registration card.

Camp Greaves served as a camp base for the 506th US Second Infantry Division for about 50 years after the ceasefire agreement of the Korean War. The land was given back to the Korean government in 2007. The camp has been turned into a peace and security experience facility, and it is located approximately 2 kilometers away from the DMZ. It is also the first youth hostel to be located within a restricted area for civilians in Paju city.

An entire building of the US Army officer quarters was remodeled into a youth hostel and can accommodate up to 240 guests. The hostel is comprised of an office, a small auditorium on the first floor, rooms on the second and third floors, and a large auditorium on the fourth floor. The camp offers diverse programs including educational programs.

Paju’s Unification Village is located north of the Civilian Control Line (CCL). It has security tour locations, such as Panmunjeom, The 3rd Tunnel, and the Dora Observatory. The village is also famous for its agricultural products, such as Jangdan ginseng, Jangdan soybeans, and Jangdan rice, grown in the fertile and blessed nature of the area. Applications for Panmunjeom visits can be made a month in advance, starting from the 10th day of that month. Visitors are required to bring their passports for identification purposes. Nearby tourist sites include Imjingak Pavilion and Paju Book City.
