Le village de Cheongho-dong est aujourd'hui la ville natale de nombreuses personnes d'ascendance nord-coréenne et généralement appelé « village Aba ». Le mot « Abai » vient du dialecte de Hamgyeong qui signifie «une personne âgée ». Ce surnom fait référence aux personnes âgées qui se sont enfuis vers Cheongho-dong pendant la Guerre de Corée.
Les rues de Cheongho-dong sont bordées de petites maisons coréennes rappelant beaucoup Séoul dans les années 1970. La nature simple et la mer calme créent une atmosphère unique. Cette zone est devenue très populaire après avoir été le lieu de tournage du drama coréen « Gaeul Donghwa » (« automne dans mon cœur »). Dans ce drama, la mère de l'actrice principale avait un supermarché dans Cheongho-dong. À proximité de ce supermarché, l'actrice principale prennait souvent un embarquadère, aujourd’hui devenu une attraction populaire pour les touristes. L’embarquadère peut traverser le cour d’eau à la force des bras des passagers qui tirent sur une corde. Il peut accueillir jusqu'à 35 personnes et se situe au centre-ville de Sokcho quartier Cheongho-dong.

Hansongjeong Garden is owned by a first-rate chef who only uses carefully selected ingredients. The owner-chef won the Grand Prize in the SIFE Seoul International Culinary Competition 2007 and received a bronze medal for his work at the Gangwon Tour Service Competition. He also has a patent on Eolgari Nangmyeon (Cold Buckwheat Noodles with Eolgari Kimchi).

Bateau Gaetbae du village Abai (아바이마을 갯배)

Gaetbae (bateau sans moteur) désigne un moyen de transport ancien afin de traverser le village Abai à l'embouchure du lac Cheongchoho.

Il s'agit d'un moyen de transport rapide entre Sokcho et le village Abai d'une longueur de 50 mètres sur les eaux. Ce bateau construit comme une barge sans moteur peut se conduire manuellement avec l'intervention de tous les passagers. Il faut compter environ 5min pour traverser la rivière. Le bateau constitue désormais une attraction touristique unique dans la région de Sokcho.

Yeonggeumjeong (영금정)

Yeonggeumjeong désigne l'espace autour du phare de Sokcho. Le terme Yeonggeumjeong provient de son des vagues heurtant les roches, un son proche du son de l'instrument geomungo. Le lieu est notamment réputé pour les vues des alentours depuis le pavillon situé au bout d'un pont de 50 mètres de long. 

Phare Observatoire de Sokcho (속초 등대전망대)

Le phare observatoire de Sockcho offre une vue fantastique sur les montagnes Seoraksan, la mer de l’est et la région de Sokcho. La vue panoramique est spectaculaire.
Le phare est de couleur blanche et degage une atmosphère romantique. A l'intérieur, des jumelles sont sont mises à disposition pour admirer la vue. Cette région est également célèbre pour les levers de soleil.

Cheoksan Spatel / (주)척산온천휴양촌

Opened in 1985, Cheoksan Spatel is a natural hot springs with strong alkaline water at 53℃, formed 4000 m below sea level. The water is said to be highly effective in the removal of impurities and treatment of skin conditions. Rooms available include both bedrooms and ondol (under-the-floor heating system) rooms. Each room has a small bath supplied with hot springs water in the bathroom. Guests are also offered a single-use ticket to the hot springs area.
There are plenty of onsite facilities as well, from the hot springs area with many different types of baths to ladies-only spa therapy at Spa Healing Center, walking paths through a pine grove, and an observation deck with a view of Seoraksan Mountain’s Ulsan Peak. Other attractions, such as Sokcho Museum, Seoraksan Botanical Garden, and Cheongchoho Recreation Area, is reachable by car in 10 min.

Le Lac Yeongnangho (영랑호)

Le lac Yeongnangho est une lagune naturelle avec une circonférence de 7,8 kilomètres. Le nom « Yeongnangho» est à l’origine de la période Shilla (de –57 à 935 JC). A proximité du lac Yeongnangho se trouvent des sentiers pédestres, un terrain de golf et il est aussi possible de louer des canots. Lors de votre visite au lac, ne manquez pas de vous arrêter au rocher Beombawi. Ce dernier prend la forme d’un tigre, c’est pourquoi il contient le mot «Beom» (tigre en coréen). Si vous escaladez ce rocher, vous pourrez admirer une belle vue sur les environs.
