La montagne Jeoksangsan (적상산)

Offrant l’un des plus beaux paysages montagnards de Corée, la montagne Jeoksangsan (qui culmine à 1 034 m) arbore d’imposants murs de pierre escarpés. Les érables rouges qui tapissent les falaises donne à la montagne en automne l’aspect d’une jupe rouge géante. C’est de là que vient son nom (“Jeoksangsan” signifie “montagne de la jupe rouge”). Il y a beaucoup à voir dans cette montagne, comme par exemple le Hyangrobong (le pic de Hyangro qui culmine à 1029 m), les chutes de Cheonil, les chutes de Songdae, Jangdobawi (le rocher de Jangdo), Janggunbawi (le rocher de Janggun), et le Anryeomdae.

Le relief accidenté de la montagne était considéré comme idéal pour y bâtir une forteresse. Après que Jeoksangsan a été désignée pour recueillir les Joseonwangjo Sillok (les annales de la dynastie Joseon), la forteresse a été reconstruite. La montagne abrite également le temple d’Anguksa, un ancien temple bâti en 1227 par le moine Wolin pendant la troisième année du règne du roi Chungrye. La montagne est facilement accessible à pied ou même en véhicule, en empruntant une route pavée longue de 15 km qui monte jusqu’au sommet de la montagne. Cette route se trouve là grâce à la construction de la centrale électrique de Muju, et permet aux visiteurs d’accéder plus facilement au lac de Sanjeong et au temple d’Anguksa.

Forteresse Jeoksangsanseong à Muju (무주 적상산성)

Montagne Jeoksangsan (적상산, altitude 1.034 m) dans Muju, Jeollabuk-faire, est entourée de parois abruptes de roches stratifiées. Le bassin sur le sommet de la montagne il y a un lac appelé "Jeoksangho», et le long de la crête entourant le lac est Jeoksangsanseong Fortress (적상 산성) s'étendant sur 8.143 m. Au cours de la période Goryeo la région était un lieu de refuge pour les civils en temps de guerre. Le mur de la forteresse a été construite pendant l'époque Joseon.

Located near the national highway, Cheonji Garden is a family operated restaurant.
With a folk and country style atmosphere, it mainly serves regional traditional dishes like ‘dotorimuk malim’ (dried acorn starch jelly) and ‘cheongtae jaban’ (a mixture of sea plants and other ingredients).
In fact, the grandmother of this family restaurant herself developed some of these dishes.
Cheonji Garden also has a spacious parking lot and great surroundings.

Pavillon Hanpungru (무주한풍루)

Le pavillon Hanpungnu est réputé pour avoir été fréquenté par des poètes renommés en Corée. Le pavilion fut incendié par l'armée japonaise en 1592 (25ème année de règne du roi Seonjo) puis reconstruit en 1599. Sous la période de la colonisation japonaise, le pavillon a servi de base notamment pour la propagation de la culture bouddhiste. Après la libération de la Corée, le pavillon fut déplacé vers Yangsan-myeon, Yeongdong-gun et fut rénommé 'Geumhoru'. En 1971, les réisdents de Muju déplacèrent le pavilion vers son emplacement actuel à Dangsan-ri, Muju-gun, région Jeollabuk-do. Hanpungnu est aujourd'hui l'un des pavillons les plus célèbres en Corée dans la région Sud-ouest, à l'instar du pavillon 'Hanbyeokdang' à Jeonju et 'Gwanghallu' à Namwon. Le pavillon est aussi réputé pour bénéficier de la plus belle des architectures des trois pavillons cités.

Located on one side of Deokyusan Mountain, Moonriver Pension is a comfortable retreat in the midst of the nature of Muju.
