The name Chuncheon means a cheon (stream) that starts to flow when the ice and snow from the winter melts in the chun (spring). Chuncheon is a Chinese-Korean word and the pure Korean name of the area is “Bom-Nae,” meaning "scent of spring."

Mont Obongsan (Chuncheon)

Déployé tel une peinture orientale et orné de rochers pittoresques et de pinèdes ancestrales, le mont Obongsan (779 m d’altitude) était autrefois appelé « mont Gyeongunsan ». Son nom actuel lui vient de ses cinq pics (« Obong » signifie « cinq pics »). Les visiteurs peuvent se rendre sur les crêtes rocheuses, ou prendre le ferry sor le lac Soyangho. Sur la partie inférieure de la montagne, au Sud du sommet, on trouve le temple Cheongpyeongsa, bâti lors de la 24ème année du règne du roi Gwangjong de la dynastie Goryeo.
