La place, située en face de l'Hôtel de ville et dénommée 'Seoul Plaza', a été inaugurée en 2004. La place Seoul Plaza accueille de nombreux événements culturels durant l'année incluant des concerts ou encore des expositions. La place se transforme également en patinoire en extérieur durant l'hiver pour devenir l'une des principales attractions de la saison à Séoul.

Le lieu propose ainsi une patinoire pour les débutants, et une patinoire pour les patineurs confirmés tout en proposant diverses activités parallèles. Vous trouverez aussi un lieu de prêt de matériel, une zone de repos, etc.

Les patineurs sont tenus de porter des gants alors que la place offre également des programmes d'entraînement pour ceux qui souhaiteraient s'initier ou en apprendre davantage sur les techniques de patinage. Founded and opened by Monk Jeongsan, Sanchon is a vegan-friendly restaurant that mainly serves temple foods. The dishes found here are a results of Kim Yun-sik, who was inspired by the simple, clean and healthy diet that a Buddhist practitioner taught him years ago. Now, being a top authority on vegetarian food in Korea, Kim Yun-sik helped perfect the standard and quality of temple food.  

The dishes are made with all natural ingredients such as vegetables and mountain herbs, and are cooked without chemical additives. The actual dishes served vary by season, and in order to meet the tastes of the general public, the restaurant includes "five spices" (garlic, shallots, mountain leeks, etc.), which monks are typically not allowed to eat. Those who would like their food without these ingredients are asked to make their request at least one day prior to visiting.

La place de l’Hôtel de Ville est le lieu où des certaines de milliers de Coréens ont scandé des « hourras » pour l’équipe de Corée durant la Coupe de Monde de la FIFA 2002

Situé au centre de la ville de Séoul, il est également son centre financier et commercial. La circulation à cet endroit y est intense, mais elle avait bien sûr était interrompue durant les évènements de la coupe du monde.
