Seonjeongneung est le site qui comprend la tombe royale Seolleung (선릉) et le tombeau royal de Jeongneung (정릉). situé au centre-ville de Séoul, cet endroit offre des promenades tranquilles au coeur des tumulus du roi Seonjong (1469-1494), de son épouse la reine Jeonghyeon, et du roi Jungjong (1506-1544) de la dynastie Joseon (1392-1910). A l’entrée du parc, vous pouvez voir une porte rouge (la couleur rouge indiquant la sainteté) avec un symbole taegeuk (yin-yang). Les deux chemins de pierre menant jusqu’aux tombes sont remarquables ; l’un est plus élevé que l’autre car il est réservé au roi défunt. Dans le passé, des rituel ont été effectués sur ce site. De petites sculptures sur les toits appelées Japsang sont en forme d'animaux comme des singes, dont on croit qu’ils servaient à exorciser les mauvais esprits. À côté du bâtiment du sacrifice se trouve un pavillon et une pierre tombale qui annonce le tombeau du roi. Des sculptures de moutons et de tigres entourent le tombeau ; ils sont les gardiens des rois morts. On trouve aussi une statue d'un officier de l'armée portant une épée. En face de la tombe se trouve les deux pierres «Mangjuseok», qui sont destinées à guider le roi mort jusqu’à sa tombe. Contrairement aux tombes royales, celle de la reine, Wanghureung, est simple. Elle n'a pas de pavillons ou de bâtiments, mais elle est entourée par des sculptures en pierre qui ont seulement la forme de gardiens. Seonjeongneung est aussi une forêt luxuriante avec des sentiers calmes pour se détendre. On y trouve de nombreuses petits regroupements d’arbres qui inspirent au mystère et à la sérénité.
