The Bukpyeong Fifth-Day Market takes place in Donghae, and is the largest fifth-day market in Gangwon. The market takes place on days ending in a 3 or an 8. Cheongok Golden Bat Cave in Donghae is the only natural cave in Korea located in a downtown area. Estimated to have been created 400 to 500 million years ago, the cave is known to serve as a habitat for the endangered golden bats. The cave's total length stretches for 1,510 meters, with only 810 meters of the cave open the public while the rest of cave remains protected for preservation purposes. The cave features ceiling craters, one of which is the longest in Korea, along with stalactite curtains, travertine terraces, stalactite cascades, and many other fantastic rock formations. The cave's unique features provide a grand spectacle for tourists and great speleological samples for researchers. A 785-meter walkway was made using the sinkhole created by dissolved limestone to help visitors get a better understanding of cave formations.

Donganjae, a traditional Korean style house located near the beach in Donghae City of Gangwon-do, was opened in June 2018. The traditional Korean style house is equipped with modern facilities for convenience while still maintaining the elegant mood of a traditional house. The rooms are located in 5 traditional buildings. The foot bath in the garden gives the feel of a pool villa. Each of the 5 independent buildings (named Mureung, Duta, Chooam, Mukho, and Mangsang to accommodate 3-4 guests in each building) has an upper floor of which the three sides can be opened to command an unobstructed view. The outdoor foot bath in the center of the garden with pine trees relieves fatigue, and the soothing scent of pine trees completes the ambiance. It is possible to cook food in the room. Each room also has a bathroom equipped with bidet and a shower booth. The recently constructed buildings are also handicapped-friendly. There is a parking space exclusive for these guests. There is also no raised spot at the gate and the threshold is made very low for easy entrance and exit. Various tools such as Tuho, Yut, Jegi, and top are ready for playing traditional games. You can likewise try wearing hanbok, Korean traditional clothes. The nearby tourist attractions include Cheongok Natural Cave, Chooam Chotdaebawi Rock, Mangsang Beach, Mukho Por,t and Mukho Lighthouse. There is a walking path behind the pension in the pine forest.

Mangyeongdae Pavilion, located on the shore of the East Coast, one-kilometer east of Donghae City Hall, was built in 1613 while old Joseon was under the rule of King Gwanghaegun. However, the pavilion was destroyed by rainstorms and later rebuilt by the Samcheok Kim family some 60 years ago. While offering a spectacular view of sea to the east, the pavilion also offers a refreshing view of expansive pine forests to the north. If you look to the west, you will enjoy a magnificent view of Dutasan Mountain beyond the pavilion’s back lawn as well as the Jeoncheon Stream flowing into the East Sea alongside a steep cliff-wall. As only Jukseoru Pavilion of Samcheok matched its view, poets of former times are said to have frequented Mangyeongdae Pavilion.

Jungyeongmyo Royal Tomb is the grave of the 5th great-grandfather of King Taejo of the Joseon dynasty. The grave as well as memorial monuments were built together with Yeonggyeongmyo, a grave for the 5th great-grandmother of King Taejo. Surrounded by a rich forest, it has a beautiful view. Every April 20th, an ancestral ritual is held by the Lee family (from Jeonju).
