Jumunjin Beach is located in the northernmost part of Gangneung, and is a great place for summertime family vacations due to the beach's shallow water. The sound of calm waves will chase the heat away, while the dense pine forest provides cool shade against the sun. Visitors can take advantage of the amenities along the beach as well, such as the forest fitness park, family hotels, and the nearby campsite.

Gangneung Boksakkot Village (강릉 복사꽃마을)

Gangneung Boksakkot Village blooms with peach blossoms each spring. The village is criss-crossed by Hacheon and Sillicheon Streams, which can be crossed by log bridges built long ago by the residents. These precious log bridges are sometimes removed for protection during the rainy summer season, and then put back out when the stream level lowers.

Boksakkot Village provides a wonderful glimpse into the rural agricultural lifestyle of Korea. Visitors can pick their own fruit directly from the tree to enjoy right away, as well as make a scarecrow or spread green tea fertilizer around the trees to help them grow. The village is also the venue for an annual peach blossom festival in April, and a scarecrow festival in August.

BTS Bus Stop (주문진읍 BTS 앨범사진 촬영지 (버스정류장))

The BTS Bus Stop is located next to Jumunjinhaebyeon Beach in Gangneung and was created specially for album jacket filming. While the original bus stop was pulled down after filming, the popularity of BTS on an international scale led the city to reinstall the bus stop as a tourist attraction.

Hyanghohaebyeon Beach (향호해변)

Hyanghohaebyeon Beach is a white sandy beach backed by pine forest complete with a campground. The beach is connected to Jumunjinhaebyeon Beach and has become a must-visit attraction in Gangneung after featuring on BTS' "Spring Day" album jacket. The bus stop was made for filming, but remains as a photo zone.

Sandglass Park (모래시계공원)

Sandglass Park is surrounded by the East Sea, mountains and Jeongdongjin 2-ri Village. Sandglass Park has pine trees, benches facing the sea, and access to Jeongdongjin Beach. At the center of the park is a giant sandglass that is set to measure one year. Sandglass Park was established in 1999 by the city of Gangneung and Samsung Electronics Co. to commemorate the upcoming millennium. Part of this commemoration was the building of the giant sandglass at the park. The sandglass has a diameter of 8.06 meters, x_width of 3.2 meters, weight of 40 tons and holds 8 tons of sand, making it one of the biggest sandglasses in the world. It takes a whole year for sand to trickle to the bottom and then the sandglass restarts again on New Year’s Day each year at midnight.

Carib Motel is located right in the center of Jeongdongjin, which is the most popular place for watching the first sunrise of the year, as well as being of the most popular summer vacation destinations in Korea and a filming location for the popular Korean TV drama 'Sandglass'. The motel is a five-story building surrounded by mountains on three sides. Guestrooms are either furnished with a bed or floor heated, and there are also large rooms for groups. It's only a 3-minute walk from the breakwater where many people come to see the first sunrise of the year and a 1-minute walk from Sandglass Park and Jeongdongjin Beach. Besides the beautiful view of the East Sea and the trails along the beach, there are a number of convenient facilities in the vicinity including convenience stores and pharmacies.

A 1.2-meter-long circular walkway encircles the sheep grazing field, and a leisurely stroll along this path takes about 40 minutes. The ranch is also known for its numerous scenic photo opportunities. Additionally, a wildlife habitat community is established at the center of the ranch, enhancing its ecological appeal.
