Samaksan Mountain in Chuncheon is known for many waterfalls in different sizes along the gorge, and especially Deungseon Falls is the best known to tourists. By entering the hiking trail of the falls, you will encounter a narrow and deep gorge. Formed through quartzitic jointing, the gorge has a mysterious atmosphere with its strange rocks and bizarre stones, which look sharp and precipitous. As the gorge and falls keep their cool temperature, the area is a popular summer resort. Deungseon Falls is one of the Eight Sights of Deungseon, along with Seunghak Falls, Baengnyeon Falls, and Biryong Falls. The quickest way to get to Deungseon Falls starts from the Deungseon Falls Ticket Booth, which is close to Gangchon.

Samaksan Mountain, paralleling to Uiamho Lake and the Bukhangang River, is one of the best scenic mountains in Chuncheon. As the mountain (san) comprises three rocky peaks (samak), which are Yonghwabong (main peak, 654 m), Cheongunbong (546 m), and Deungseonbong (632 m), it was named Samaksan Mountain. Although it is not a high and majestic mountain, it is considered a mountain with splendid scenery. Samaksan Mountain embraces a fantastic gorge formed through quartzitic jointing and waterfalls. Waterfalls in different sizes, such as Deungseon Falls, Seunghak Falls, and Juryeom Falls, create the splendid landscape, and the top of the mountain commands a panoramic view of downtown Chuncheon along with Uiamho Lake and the Bukhangang River. As its name tells, Samaksan Mountain is known for its rugged and precipitous features (aksan meaning a rugged, rocky mountain). The main access road to the mountain starts from the Deungseon Falls’ ticket booth and the Uiam Ticket Booth, and the trail from Uiam covers a hard, rocky section. As Gangwon-do Monument No. 16, Samaksan Mountain also has various interesting attractions, including Sangwonsa Temple, Heungguksa Temple, and Samaksanseong Fortress.

Since opening in 1999, the owner of Jasmine has been the talk of the town because of his good nature. He had been featured in the local newspapers for his good deeds, such as providing food to neighbors in need and offering scholarship money to students from unprevileged families, with the belief that people should share even in general tough times.

The owner is very enthusiastic about serving customers the right way. He even hired a Chinese cook for tourists from China and Taiwan who came to Chuncheon because of Hallyu, or the Korean wave. In addition to authentic Chinese dishes for Chinese customers, the restaurant also serves other types of Chinese dishes that suit the tastes of Koreans. With the management philosophy that fresh ingredients are a must in bringing out the best flavor, the restaurant owner uses seafood from Mokpo and vegetables from Chuncheon in preparing delicious Chinese dishes for customers. The owner even holds a meeting every morning with the staff to provide better dishes and service.

Gombaeryeong, a traditional Korean restaurant in Gangwon-do, specializes in Korean table d'hote. Their health-focused menu features namul bap (vegetable rice) accompanied by four unique sauces, yeongeun salad (lotus root salad), japchae, yukhoe (beef tartare), jeonbong nyori (abalone dish), hwangtae jjim (braised dried pollack), tteokgalbi (grilled galbi patties), daeha jjim (steamed prawns), among others. Chuncheon Folk Flea Market, which is 5 min walk from Namchuncheon Station, is located below the Gyeongchun Line railway bridge connecting Namchuncheon Station with Chuncheon Station. The market was originally built over the covered Yaksacheon Stream, but with the ecosystem restoration project of the Yaksacheon Stream, the market was relocated to the current position at the end of 2010. It covers a distance of about 700 m and is packed with some 140 stores. It also holds its fifth-day market (opened every five days on dates of the month whose last digit is the 2nd or 7th). On the opening days of the fifth-day market, it is filled with various kinds of street stalls selling farming products, fresh fish and seafood, snacks, and miscellaneous goods. Visitors can also try diverse dishes, including Gangwon-do’s local dishes such as buckwheat pancake, buckwheat crepes, and red chili paste pancake, and other dishes such as spicy stir-fried chicken, raw meat dish, and noodle soup. The nighttime market opens Friday to Sunday from spring to autumn.

Chuncheon Makguksu & Dakgalbi Festival celebrates dakgalbi (spicy stir-fried chicken) and makguksu (buckwheat noodles), two of the most famous specialties of the city of Chuncheon. The 20 Crystal Cabins among the 66 total cabins offer the best choice to enjoy the beautiful Uiamho Lake and Samaksan Mountain. Samaksan Lake Cable Car Building, which resembles a bow and boomerang, has a variety of amenities. There are restaurants, convenience stores, cafés, and souvenir shops at Uiamho Lake Stop (lower stop).
