The city of Bupyeong is surrounded by Gyeyangsan Mountain, Cheolmasan Mountain, and Manwolsan Mountain, which all form a basin-shaped area in the center. Mokdong Stadium was opened in 1989 with a stadium, a baseball field and an indoor ice rink and added footsal field in 2008 to improve Korea’s sports culture. But this undoubted skill has historical precedent, as bows were an important weapon of war throughout Korean history. The Bucheon Bow Museum was established to show visitors the spirit of Korean archery, and demonstrate its ancestral traditions of bowyer craftsmanship. The museum houses traditional bows (gukgung), which are considered prized cultural pieces, and have been made by a Bucheon family, which has fostered a lineage of bowyers across five generations. In addition, the museum exhibits various pieces and articles related to archery.

Aegibong Peak is located at the northern tip of Gimpo city about an hour’s drive from the downtown area. The mountain is where North and South Korea engaged in a fierce battle at the end of the Korean War; after the battle, Korea was divided into two nations. Since the peak is still a restricted area, visitors must present their passport in order to be admitted. From the peak, an open view of North Korean territory unfolds below and visitors can see South Korean territory as far as Songhaksan Mountain in Chungcheongnam-do.
