Yeongjong Grand Bridge (영종대교)

Yeongjongdaegyo Bridge connects the mainland of Incheon with Yeongjongdo Island that is home to the Incheon International Airport. Until the construction of this bridge, the only way to get to and from Yeongjongdo Island had been by boat. The 4.4 kilometer-long Yeongjong Bridge is the world’s first 3-dimensional self-anchored suspension bridge. The bridge carries both highways and rail lines on its decks, and 10,000-ton ships can pass under the bridge. The bridge was designed to withstand strong winds and earthquake.

It is the first bridge in Korea to have been completed through private capital inducement project. In addition to its function as a bridge, it is also an architectural beauty as the shape of the cable and the girder was designed to symbolize the eaves of the traditional Korean tile-roofed house. In 2002, Yeongjongdaegyo Bridge won the Tanaka Award by the Japan Society of Civil Engineers for the first time in Korea.

National Institute of Biological Resources (국립생물자원관)

Opened in October 2007, the National Institute of Biological Resources is the largest collection preservation facility in Northeast Asia. The institute collects, preserves, manages, and conducts research on biological resources with the aim of growing into a focal biological resource hub of Northeast Asia. The institute is comprised of a spine-shaped collections and research center and a leaf-shaped exhibition and education center. The exhibition hall has 3,905 specimens of 1,287 native species on display. Korea's diverse ecosystems are recreated as highly detailed dioramas at the exhibition hall. A small restaurant is located inside the research center, and the extensive grass field in front of the institute provides an ideal picnic spot.

[Ganghwa Nadeul-gil Course 2] Homeland Fortification Trail ([강화 나들길 제2코스] 호국돈대길)

The Ganghwa Nadeul-gil Trails are a collection of walking paths along the coast of Ganghwa Island that connect the watchtowers and and walls of Ganghwasanseong Fortress, as well as royal tombs and other historically significant sites from the Goryeo dynasty that dot the island.

Course 2 stretches over a 17 kilometer area between Gapgotdon Watchtower and Chojijin Fort. This trail showcases the history of the island and the changes that happened before and after the opening of the port. The course follows a coastal road that is particularly beautiful in spring and fall.

Laveniche March Avenue (라베니체 마치에비뉴)

Laveniche March Avenue is a shopping avenue established along the artifical Golden Waterway in Gimpo, Gyeonggi-do. The area became a popular attraction after appearing in the popular drama series "Tale of the Nine Tailed (2020)" and several other television shows. The waterway sparkles in the sunlight during the day and glistens with the city lights at night, offering a romantic scenery anytime of the day.

Laveniche Plaza (라베니체광장)

Hangang Central Park, which was constructed as a result of the development of Gimpo Hangang New City, boasts a fabulous trail from the Golden Waterway by the waterside path all the way to Laveniche Shopping District. Golden Waterway Laveniche continues along a 2.68-kilometer-long trail and displays a variety of sceneries from the south to the north. Designed after Venice, the city of water, Laveniche features many different shops along the water that runs 1.7 kilometers for a round trip. Various living goods shops, restaurants, and pubs are set up on both sides of the water near the Central Plaza so it is a perfect place to spend time healing after a light stroll and shopping.

Sudokwon Landfill Site Wildflower Complex Dream Park (수도권 매립지 야생화단지 드림파크)

Sudokwon Landfill Site Wildflower Complex Dream Park is an eco-project park that maintains the function of a landfill site while restoring natural habitats and providing citizens with recreational spaces. Yackseokwon (약석원)

Ganghwa Sajabalssuk, a type of mugwort native to Ganghwado Island, is known for its rich aroma and high vitamin A content. Yackseokwon offers immunity-strengthening programs using this special herb believed to help prevent chronic illnesses. “Raise Your Body Temperature by 1°C Project” is a signature course, which involves yoni steaming (mugwort steam sitting bath) and thermal moxibustion to gradually warm the body. Just an increase of 1 degree in body temperature is said to boost immune function, increase basal metabolism, and improve blood circulation. The program is offered by reservation only and accommodates up to 25 people per session. The 100-minute experience begins with 40 minutes of yoni steaming, followed by 30 minutes of abdominal heat therapy and 30 minutes of lower back heat therapy. Aegibong Peak (Gimpo Section) (애기봉 (김포))

Aegibong Peak is located at the northern tip of Gimpo city about an hour’s drive from the downtown area. The mountain is where North and South Korea engaged in a fierce battle at the end of the Korean War; after the battle, Korea was divided into two nations. Since the peak is still a restricted area, visitors must present their passport in order to be admitted. From the peak, an open view of North Korean territory unfolds below and visitors can see South Korean territory as far as Songhaksan Mountain in Chungcheongnam-do.

Gimpo Art Village (김포 아트빌리지)

The Village also has a traditional hanok stay experience hall, multipurpose hall and practice rooms where art clubs and organizations can engage in creative activities to their heart's content, a VR (virtual reality) experience hall for people of all ages and genders, and many other spaces for culture and arts for citizens to enjoy in the midst of their lives.

Historical background: The Unyang-dong part of Modamsan Mountain where Gimpo Art Village is located is speculated to be the origin of the ancient country of Baekje. Seated before broad plains and Najincheon Stream, the art village also sits in front of Modamsan, the home of numerous Mahan tombs from which a 120-centimeter-long steel sword, crystal jade, and golden earrings, the oldest of its kind unearthed thus far, were once discovered. There have also been many discoveries of settlements from the New Stone Age and Bronze Age as well as dolmens from the Bronze Age so it is believed that a group with a powerful authority had been living in the Modamsan area since ancient times. In the Joseon period, the area became a part of Cheonhyeon-ri and Cheongsudong-ri, Seokhan-myeon. Modamsan is the home of the shrine and grave of Sim Ong, a military vassal from the early Joseon Dynasty who was a second-level meritorious vassal and had the positions of General Jeolchung and later Yeonguijeong, which was given after his death. Also located on the northern riverside of Hangang is Gambawi Rock where Jungbong Jo Heon, a civil vassal from the mid-Joseon period and leader of a righteous army, used to fish to soothe his patriotic sentiments.
