Jeolla-do is famous for its delicious food. At Suyeon Sikdang, you can taste a Jeolla-do-style set menu, served with plenty of side dishes that are homemade every morning. Gamasot baekban (set menu of rice cooked in a cast-iron pot) is served with rice cooked in a cast-iron pot along with 13 delicious side dishes, including braised bean curd, stir-fried mushrooms, bean sprout salad, and stir-fried anchovies, along with briquette-grilled bulgogi. Moreover, customers can order grilled mackerel for an additional 2,000 won per fish. In addition to the set menu, other menu items include healthy gamasot galnaktang (short rib and octopus soup), sondubu jjigae (soft bean curd jjigae), and gamasot cheonggukjang (rich soybean paste jjigae), all cooked in a cast-iron pot for a deep, savory flavor.

As its name suggests, it is a café that presents bread made from moohwagwa (figs), a specialty of Yeongam. Its two-story building and spacious garden give off a fresh atmosphere. The National Research Institute of Maritime Cultural Heritage is located along Gatbawi Culture Street in Mokpo. Managed by the Cultural Heritage Administration, it is the only marine museum in Korea to display marine cultural relics. Opened in 1994 as the National Maritime Museum, the name was changed in 2009. The two-story institute houses over 2,000 relics excavated from the sea around Korea. There are four main exhibition halls as well as an outdoor exhibition space and one special exhibition hall. Through the exhibits, visitors can see ships from the past as well was learn about the lifestyle and culture of people living in coastal villages.

Samhakdo Cruise offers sightseeing cruises around the major attractions of Mokpo on the sea. During the day, they operate the Seascape City Tour, and in the evening, they offer Sunset and Fireworks Tours. Yeongamho Lake (migratory bird habitat) (영암호 - 철새도래지)

This is a huge lake created when the Geumho tide embankment was constructed in Yeongam on November 1996, as part of a national project to reclaim some 4.3 kilometers stretch of sea from Sampo-ri in Samho-myeon of Yeongam-gun to Byeoram-ri in Hwawon-myeon of Haenam-gun.

Some 100 species of migratory birds, numbering some 300,000, live in this area over the winter on the mud flats which are full of things to eat. Around the embankment where the sea water and fresh water meet, there is a great spot to fish for both fresh water and the sea species. This is perhaps the only place in Korea where the long and silvery cutlass fish, usually found in the deeper areas of the ocean, can be caught while sitting on the rocks along the seashore.

Mokpo Gatbawi Rock (목포 갓바위)

Located on the coast of Yonghae-dong in Mokpo, Gatbawi is a natural sandstone and tafoni formation near the mouth of the Yeongsangang River, where freshwater runs into the sea. Gatbawi is named after its shape, which is said to look like two men wearing traditional Korean hats called “gat” (“bawi” meaning “rock”). The rock is actually made of two individual formations: one measuring 8 meters tall and one 6 meters tall. Valued not only for its aesthetics, Gatbawi Rock is of high geological value as a “natural sculpture” that was formed as a result of years of weathering. The rock formation was officially recognized as Natural Monument No. 500 on April 27, 2009.
