In the past, Yudalsan Mountain was known as Yeongdalsan Mountain, because it was a place where the soul passes. Located in the city's center, Yudalsan Mountain offers a view of Mokpo and Dadohae Sea, constantly inspiring its residents' artistic souls. There are many places to visit, including an orchid park and a sculpture park with 100 sculptures. Visitors can also enjoy a panoramic view by driving along the 2.7 km-long Yudalsan Scenic Road surrounding the mountain. In addition, Albizia Kalkara, a rare plant that will vanish forever from the face of the earth if it becomes extinct on Yudalsan mountain, inhabits this mountain. The view from the top of Yudalsan Mountain is spectacular, and the sight of big and small ships passing between them resembles an oriental painting. Yudalsan Sculture Garden was the first outdoor sculpture garden to open in Korea, and is located just below Ideungbawi Rock at the summit of the mountain. The garden features 104 works of art on the themes of nature, culture, and sculpture that were selected through a panel of judges. Located between the different works are trees and plants, providing more beauty to the park. Looking farther away, visitors can see the major attractions of Mokpo spread out in the city below.

Oedaldo Island is an island located 6 kilometers off the eastern coast of Mokpo. The island has clean beaches and a natural environment, earning it recognition from the Ministry of Environment and Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport. The island is a popular attraction for couples wishing to take in the beautiful sunset, with the small surrounding islands dotting the sea. Mokpo Marine Cable Car departs from the North Port Terminal, ascends to the summit of Yudalsan Mountain where it rotates 90 degrees, then traverses over Mokpo and the Dadohae Sea to reach Gohado Island. Covering a distance of 3.23 kilometers, the round trip takes approximately 40 minutes. At the North Port, Yudalsan Mountain, and Gohado Island terminals, there are cafés, restaurants, and rooftop gardens available for visitors to enjoy.

As its name suggests, it is a café that presents bread made from moohwagwa (figs), a specialty of Yeongam. Its two-story building and spacious garden give off a fresh atmosphere. Outdoor terrace seats on the second floor allow visitors to enjoy the magnificent view of the surrounding scenery. The fig bread made in the shape of a fig contains a lot of dried figs, making for a perfect snack. The premium gelato with five flavors—vanilla, dark chocolate, mango, black sesame, and ricotta cheese—is also popular. Catholic Mokpo Shrine is not only the starting point of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Gwangju, a central hub of Catholicism in Korea, but also the place where the first Legion of Mary (Lay Faith Community) headquarters in Korea was established. At the heart of the shrine stands the Sanjeong-dong Memorial Church, designated as a minor basilica in 2020, along with the Martyrs' Memorial Tower. The National Research Institute of Maritime Cultural Heritage is located along Gatbawi Culture Street in Mokpo. Managed by the Cultural Heritage Administration, it is the only marine museum in Korea to display marine cultural relics. Opened in 1994 as the National Maritime Museum, the name was changed in 2009. The two-story institute houses over 2,000 relics excavated from the sea around Korea. There are four main exhibition halls as well as an outdoor exhibition space and one special exhibition hall. Through the exhibits, visitors can see ships from the past as well was learn about the lifestyle and culture of people living in coastal villages.
