Die Glocke befand sich ursprünglich am Tempel Wongaksa, wurde jedoch im Jahre 1619 zu ihrem heutigen Standort verlegt. Sie hat einen hohen, kulturellen Wert, da ihr genaues Baujahr bekannt ist und Historiker so Reliquien aus der selben Zeit genauer datieren können.
Jeden Tag um 11:20 Uhr (außer Montags) findet eine einstündige Läutzeremonie statt, und jeden 31. Dezember wird mit einer beliebten Läutzeremonie das neue Jahr begrüßt.
