L'arbre Ginkgo à Wonju (quartier Munmak-eup), a été désigné monument naturel le 31 janvier 1964.
S'il n'est pas possible de connaître l'âge exact de l'arbre, on estime qu'il dépasse les 800 ans. Il mesure 33 mètres de haut pour une circonférence de 14 mètres à sa base et plus de 30 mètres avec ses branches. L'arbre est considéré comme le plus beau représentant du genre en Corée tout en étant très réputé durant l'automne. On raconte qu'un serpent blanc vivrait dans l'arbre ce qui lui aurait permis de rester intact dans le temps.
