Le temple de Heungryunsa désigne un centre bouddhiste de l’ordre de Jogyejong. Situé dans le parc de Jukdobong dans le centre-ville de Suncheon, le temple de Heungryunsa est un sanctuaire pour le dieu Sakyamuni (principale statue de Bouddha). Le site était auparavant utilisé comme terrain d’entraînement au tir à l’arc.

* Histoire
Le temple de Heungryunsa est une branche du temple de Hwaeonsa, qui est le 19ème temple local de l’ordre de Jogyejong. Le temple de Heungryunsa aurait été construit durant le règne du roi Seonjo pendant la dynastie Joseon, et le site aurait été utilisé comme terrain d’entraînement au tir à l’arc par les forces navales durant l’invastion japonaise de 1592. A la même époque, le temple était aussi la première base militaire des moines devenus officiers militaires des temples de Hwaeomsa, Songgwangsa et Seonamsa.

Le bâtiment actuel a été reconstruit en 1986 par le moine Jongwon, qui est encore l’abbé principal du temple.
