Bukchonmaru Hanok Guesthouse is located between “Bukchon Views 2 and 3” on a hill in Bukchon Village in Seoul. This two-storied hanbok building with a terrace, which is rarely found among other hanok structures in the area, offers a splendid view of Seoul. In particular, the summit of a hill next to the main gate of Choong Ang High School where the guesthouse is situated is known as the filming location for the famous Korean TV series Winter Sonata (2002). When you open the main gate and go up to the first floor, a small yard is seen with a group of jars on one side. After entering the sliding door through the yard, there is daecheong maru (main floored room) that features the doors opening in all directions and a high ceiling with rafters, making the space open and cozy. The hanok building consists of two floors – the ground floor is equipped with special furniture, a jar table and a log chair made by the owner, and on the first floor are guestrooms comprised of one large room and two small rooms. The neat and clean rooms are designed in a simple way and have lovely bedding with the pattern of five cardinal colors. Its staff members can speak English and Chinese to communicate with guests from other countries. Every morning, guests engage in animated conversation while enjoying a Korean home-style breakfast prepared by the owner in a friendly atmosphere. After having breakfast, if guests want, they can try on traditional Korean clothes (hanbok) and take photographs inside and around the guesthouse to create interesting memories. The guesthouse also provides a hanbok rental service (KRW 30,000 for a day) and tourists wearing traditional Korean clothes can enter both Changdeokgung Palace and Gyeongbokgung Palace, which can be reached on foot within 10 to 15 minutes, free of charge. Moreover, guests can enjoy an open view of the area including Gahoe-dong, Gye-dong and even the lights of the Namsan Seoul Tower at night from the roof top.

Située près du palais Gyeongbokgung, Dialogue in the Dark – Bukchon est une exposition participative sensorielle unique qui se déroule dans l’obscurité totale pendant 100 minutes. Accompagnés par un·e Roadmaster, les participants explorent différents environnements uniquement à travers les sens du toucher, de l’ouïe, de l’odorat et du goût.

Créée en Allemagne en 1988, cette exposition internationale a été présentée dans plus de 161 villes à travers le monde, touchant plus de 12 millions de visiteurs en Europe, en Asie et en Amérique.

Les visiteurs doivent arriver 15 minutes avant l’heure de réservation pour retirer leurs billets, déposer leurs affaires personnelles et se préparer à l’expérience. L’entrée se fait à l’heure exacte via un ascenseur menant progressivement vers une obscurité complète. Pendant 100 minutes, aucune sortie n’est possible ; il est donc essentiel d’utiliser les toilettes à l’avance.

L’exposition est située à 700 m de la sortie 2 de la station de métro Anguk (ligne 3). Le quartier de Bukchon et ses environs, proches du palais Gyeongbokgung, offrent également de nombreux cafés et restaurants à découvrir avant ou après l’expérience.

Seochon Guest House is nicknamed ‘Jaeminangol (interesting village)’ after Baekseok’s poem ‘Yeowunangol’, with the aim of providing a visit full of interesting experiences. Passing through a garden and entering the main building, the unique charm of this hanok building, the staircase to get to the first floor from daecheong (main floored room), catches the eye of the visitors. In addition, the building is decorated with various stylish objects including paintings and Korean musical instruments. The terrace situated on the first floor offers an open view of the surrounding area including roof tiles of hanok structures and alleyways in Seochon. It is said that Korean novelist Yoon Hu-myeong also appreciated the structure of the guesthouse, saying, “It is an interesting place.” Built in the 1930s, the house, which has many storage places, was taken by the owner couple in spring 2014 as they were attracted by the house during their trip to Seochon. After the repair work, the ground floor of the house was opened for guests from January 2016, hoping that guests could share their daily experiences and stories with each other. The guestrooms and the main floored room on the ground floor are open to guests, with the exception of the first floor, which is used by the owner couple. The living room is equipped with books, a curved TV, and a table. The tasty meal, which is served in the kitchen, consists of rice and soup with six side dishes and is much loved by guests. The guesthouse offers a total of four rooms – Jae Room, which is the most Korean-style room; Mi Room, which has a combined style of a Korean-style room and Western-style room; Nan Room, which is an ideal room for meditation with a beautiful paper window; and Ahn Room, which is equipped with a veranda and a pretty flowerbed. Every room has its separate charm with various comfortable bedding to provide a quiet and cozy bedroom for guests in the middle of the city. Furthermore, the guesthouse holds a pansori (epic chant) performance twice a year. The owner started learning how to sing pansori to promote the Korean culture and tradition to foreigners. When a pansori performance is held, the owner offers traditional Korean snacks and drinks including sikhye (sweet rice punch), sujeonggwa (cinnamon punch), traditional sweets and cookies, and tteok (rice cakes) to visitors, tourists, and performers. Moreover, it provides cultural programs such as a Gukak (Korean classical music) experience, Korean traditional clothes experience, and making Korean food experience, as well as other activities with guests, such as trip to the city wall between Inwangsan Mountain and Bugaksan Mountain, and the Royal Palace Tour to Gyeongbokgung Palace, etc., as well as a trip to a traditional market.

Mont Inwangsan (인왕산)

Le mont Inwangsan abrite toujours les terrains rituels du roi Taejo et Muhakdaesa, ainsi que les remparts construits dans la périphérie de Séoul, qui s’étendent du tunnel de Sajik jusqu’à la porte de Jahamun. De nombreuses personnes aiment faire de la randonnée sur le sentier qui démarre du tunnel de Sajik et conduit au sommet de la montagne, puis longe les remparts pour aboutir à Buamdong. Le parcours de randonnée est également relié à la route qui se trouve devant Cheongwadae, ce qui permet aux randonneurs de visiter des monuments historiques comme les routes de Palpan et de Hyoja, ainsi que le palais de Gyeongbok. Le sentier de randonnée situé derrière le parc de Sajik conduit à Hwanghakjeong, où les archers de la dynastie Joseon faisaient montre de leur adresse au tir. Hwanghakjeong se trouvait à l’origine dans le palais de Gyeongbok, mais il a été déplacé dans la montagne. Le sommet offre une vue panoramique des environs, avec au centre le palais de Gyeongbok, et s’étend aussi loins que les montagnes Nak, Nam et Baegaksan.

L’itinéraire de randonnée qui longe les remparts est apprécié pour la beauté des paysages que les promeneurs peuvent admirer tout en escaladant la montagne. En suivant le passage qui se trouve à l’intérieur des remparts, on peut apercevoir une volée de marches de pierre après avoir dépassé Changuimun. En montant ces marches, le passage fait un coude vers l’extérieur des remparts. Il continue pendant 200 m et conduit vers un amoncellement de rochers autrefois utilisé pour bâtir des châteaux pendant le règnes des rois Taejo, Sejong et Sukjong. L’épaisse mousse sombre qui recouvre ces pierres témoigne de la longue histoire de Séoul. Le passage mène également au château de Tangchundae. Celui-ci a été construit pour renforcer les defenses de la ville après l’invasion japonaise de 1592 et la guerre contre les Mandchous en 1636.

Le mont Inwangsan culmine à une hauteur de 338,2 m et couvre les quartiers de Honghedong dans l’arrondissement de Seodaemungu ainsi que Muakdong, Nusangdong, Ogindong et Buamdong qui se trouvent à Jongnogu. Des formations rocheuses uniques et colossales, ainsi que la vue sur Séoul et Cheongwadae représentent quelques-uns des nombreux charmes du mont Inwangsan.
