Imun Seolnongtang has been serving its hearty seolleongtang for over a hundred years since it first opened in 1907. Even its name has a long history: the word imun comes from Imun-gol, the now-obsolete name of the restaurant’s location, and seolnongtang, an old variation of the word seolleongtang. During the Japanese colonial rule, the restaurant’s regular customers included Gijeong Son, the marathon gold-medalist at the 1936 Berlin Olympics. To make the rich seolleongtang broth, beef meat and bones are simmered for more than 15 hours. Try putting rice and minced green onion in your seolleongtang for a warm and tasty experience. Kkakttugi (diced radish kimchi), provided as a side dish, is also delicious.

Parc Sajik à Séoul (사직공원(서울))

Le parc Sajik est l’un des trois parcs les plus populaires de Jongno-gu, avec le parc Tapgol et le parc Samcheong. Situé à l’Ouest du complexe du gouvernement central, au Sud-Est du mont Inwang, le parc possède la taille impressionnante de 188,710 m².

Le nom du parc remonte à 1395, lorsque Taejo Lee Sung-gye construisit le premier Sajikdan (autel dédié aux divinités d’Etat), avec en son centre, le sanctuaire Jongmyo (sanctuaire ancestral royal). « Sa » désigne la divinité de la terre, tandis que « jik » se réfère au dieu des cinq céréales. Des rituels pour obtenir une bonne récolte avaient lieu régulièrement au Sajikdan. Néanmoins, le site n’a pas été reconnu officiellement comme parc jusqu’en 1922, lors de la période coloniale japonaise.

Dans le parc, on trouve plusieurs terrains de jeux, des statues de Sin Saimdang, Hwanghakjeong et Yi I (souvent mentionné sous son nom de plum « Yulgok »), ainsi que la bibliothèque municipale des enfants. Le sanctuaire de Dangun et la bibliothèque de Jongno se trouvent à proximité. En suivant le sentier près du parc Sajik pendant environ 5 minutes, les visiteurs peuvent atteindre le parcours de randonnée du mont Inwang relativement facilement.

Korea Samgyetang (고려삼계탕)

Korea Samgyetang serves up delicious samgyetang (ginseng chicken soup) made using only 4-year-old ginseng cultivated in Geumsan (a town famous for its ginseng) and chickens raised on local farms. Young chickens (no more than 49 days old) are butchered and delivered fresh daily, making for only the tenderest meat. The chicken is boiled with high-quality ginseng, dates, garlic, glutinous rice, and various medicinal herbs to make a flavorful and energizing soup.

Hyundai Kalguksu is a kalguksu (handmade knife-cut noodles) restaurant that has been in the family for two generations (1982). The restaurant is extremely popular among people working at nearby businesses, thanks to the rich flavor of the broth. Anchovies, dried pollack heads, and kelp are simmered for many hours, and then, other ingredients are added: soft noodles and various vegetables including pumpkin, onion, and green onions. The restaurant is famous for the exquisite taste of its kalguksu, as well as for its large servings. Just one bowl is enough to satisfy a starving man, but if you are still hungry, don’t hesitate to ask for more rice or noodles for free. Another unforgettable specialty here is kimchi. You will also be able to enjoy geotjeori (freshly made kimchi) and kkakdugi (sliced white-radish kimchi), which is fermented for about three days.

La galerie Hyundai a été inauguré sous le nom de Hyundai Hwarang (galerie) à Insadong (Jongno-gu, Séoul) en avril 1940. Pendant plus de quarante années, cette galerie a exposé des pièces d’artistes coréens tels que Park Soo Keun, Joong Seop Lee, Whanki Kim, Ucchin Chang, Kyung Ja Chun, Dai Won Lee, Young Kuk Yoo, Ufan Lee, Nam June Paik, ou encore Shim Moon-seup.

Elle possède et gère désormais de nombreuses salles d’exposition comme « Le Nouvel Espace », « L’Espace Principal » (chacune avec deux étages), et « L’Espace Gangnam ». La Galerie Dugahun (affiliée à la Galerie Hyundai) n’est qu’à quelques pas du Nouvel Espace et est gérée conjointement avec Dugahun, un restaurant à vins situé dans une hanok (maison traditionnelle coréenne).

L’Espace Gangnam peut se vanter d’avoir un mélange éclectique de pièces et de styles d’artistes à la fois internationaux et coréens. La Galerie Hyndai gère aussi une « Galerie Fenêtre», salle d’exposition pour les artistes prometteurs.
