Le parc de la paix Jeju 4.3 a été créé pour ne pas oublier ceux tombés pour la nation. Le parc est un symbole pour la réconciliation et la paix, et a pour vocation d'inspirer l'espoir.

Ce projet a vu le jour suite à la volonté de dédommager les victimes de l'incident 4.3 de Jeju. Cet incident renvoie directement au soulèvement des habitants de l'île à la fin des années 1940 en faveur de l'unification du pays notamment. Une loi spécifique intitulée 4.3 a aussi été promulgué en 2000 pour l'acquisition du parc. Celui-ci a finalement pu être inauguré le 28 mars 2008.
