Désigné comme site historique No.134, Samseonghyeol est situé dans la forêt de pins entre l’hôtel Kal et le musée d’histoire naturelle et du folklore de Jéju. Le mot "Samseonghyeol" signifie "les trois creuvasses" se référant ainsi aux crevasses présentes au coeur de la forêt, et qui se séparent les unes des autres de quelques mètres.
La légende raconte que Samseonghyeol est l'endroit où vivaient autrefois 3 demi-dieux, qui sont les pères fondateurs de Tamna (l'ancien nom de Jéju). Ils vivaient de chasse et de cueillette puis se marièrent chacun à trois princesses de Byeokrangguk. On raconte que ces 3 princesses ont apporté avec elles un veau, un cheval, et cinq graines différentes qui ont petit à petit développé l’activité agricole sur l'île.
Curieusement, les trois crevasses sont protégées de la neige et de la pluie par les arbres centenaires qui les entourent. Beaucoup de visiteurs qualifient cet endroit de mystérieux. La visite dure environ 30 minutes (Tarifs 2 500 wons).
