Santuario Hyeonchungsa (현충사)

El santuario Hyeonchungsa, ubicado en Asan, es el lugar donde se encuentran los restos del general Yi Sun-shin (1545-1598). Fue construido en 1706 y al año siguiente fue nombrado Hyeonchungsa. En 1932, durante la ocupación japonesa, se constituyó un comité de preservación de tesoros para proteger el santuario. Después, el santuario fue reconstruido por el gobierno, su área fue ampliada y fue desarrollado aún más como lugar sagrado.

El santuario contiene el Sipkyeongdo, una biografía ilustrada del general Yi Sun-shin, de sus retratos y la historia de su vida. Dentro del santuario están también en exposición el Diario Nanjung, designado como Tesoro Nacional N° 76, su gran espada, Tesoro N° 326, y otros tesoros, junto con la antigua casa en la que vivió, el campo de tiro con arco, y el Geobukseon (barco tortuga). Cuando entre en el Santuario Hyeonchungsa por la puerta principal, Chungmumun, verá otra puerta llamada Hongsal. Pase la Puerta Hongsal y podrá ver el retrato de Yi Sun-shin, que está hecho con los azulejos Cheonggiwa coreanos y hormigón armado. Dentro está la Casa Chungmujeong, en donde Yi Sun-shin pasó su vida hasta la adolescencia. El estanque Yeongji, añadido recientemente al santuario Hyeonchungsa, es también algo que merece la pena explorar.
