Fortaleza Deokjinjin (덕진진)

Deokjinjin fue el punto estratégico de la muralla del castillo usada para defender el estrecho de Ganghwa durante la dinastía Goryeo (918-1392). Originalmente se trataba de un campo militar dirigido por un oficial de rango de cheomsa al mando de la base naval coreana. En 1677, un oficial de rango de manho fue asignado en el campo junto con 26 militares oficiales, 100 soldados y 2 barcos de batalla y otros equipos militares. En 1679, las baterías Namjangpodae y Deokjinpodae fueron instaladas en este lugar.

El campo Deokjinjin fue la escena de una dura batalla que tuvo lugar durante Byeonginyangyo (invasión francesa de 1866) y Shinmiyangyo (invasión estadounidense de 1871). Las almenas y las casas de guardia de Deokjinjin fueron destruidas durante Sinmiyangyo y se reconstruyeron en 1977. En la batería Namjangpodae, los cañones usados durante el período de Joseon se han reelaborado e instalado para ser exhibidos.
