The Chuncheon International Mime Festival is recognized as one of the world’s top three mime festivals, alongside France’s Mimos Mime Festival and the London International Mime Festival in the UK. The festival kicks off with “City of Water: Ah! Surajang,” transforming the city center into a massive water park. The highlight of the festival is the fire performance “City of Fire: Dokkaebi Nanjang,” which lights up the dark night. During the festival, various performances based on “body, movement, and image” are held throughout Chuncheon. Located at the Uiam lakeside, the Animation Museum, which is Korea’s only animation museum, has two floors. On the first floor there is the dimensional exhibition hall introducing the origin, birth, and development of the animation, the kinds of animation, and the Korean animation history, as well as the reproductions of a large robot Taekwon V, and the old comic store. The second floor consists of the world hall displaying the animation trend for each country, diverse animation experience activities, and a special exhibition hall. Visitors can experience making sound effects for an animated film using various tools and dubbing a famous animated film such as Run Honey, and Cloud Bread. The Toy Robot Studio, located next to the Animation Museum, provides various experience programs related to robots. Its interesting robot programs are Spider Robot, Mission Robot, Robot Avatar, Robot Dance, Drone Experience, and so on. Both the Animation Museum and the Toy Robot Studio are equipped with convenient facilities for visitors with the background of Uiamho Lake, such as a cafe and souvenir shop, which sells animation characters and toys. The outdoor space also displays cute animation characters on the lawn where children can play freely.

Tomb of Sin Sunggyeom (장절공신숭겸장군묘역)

Tomb of Sin Sung-gyeom (posthumous epithet: Jangjeolgong), a founding contributor of the Goryeo Dynasty Sin Sung-gyeom made a great contribution to the foundation of Goryeo by expelling Gung Ye and crowning Wang Geon (later, King Taejo) as a king in 918, together with Bae Hyeon-gyeong, Hong Yu, and Bok Ji-gyeom. When Taejo of Goryeo was surrounded by the army of Gyeon Hwon (founder of Later Baekje) at the Palgongsan Battle in Daegu, Sin exchanged armor with Taejo’s armor to disguise himself as the king and died. The enemy thought that he was Taejo and beheaded him, and Taejo made his head with gold in sorrow and held a funeral for him. The Tomb of Sin Sung-gyeom consists of three mounds, which are said to have been a measure that Taejo took lest the golden head should be stolen. The location of the tomb is regarded as one of the best propitious sites for a grave in Korea, based on geomancy. Surrounded by pine trees, this site overlooks downtown Chuncheon. The tombstone, shrine, and memorial stone were built around the tomb. This tomb was designated as Gangwon-do Monument No. 21 under the title “Sin jangjeolgong Myoyeok (Tomb of Sin Sung-gyeom),” while the memorial stone, bearing the story of the Palgongsan Battle and Sin Sung-gyeom’s performance, was designated as Gangwon-do’ Tangible Cultural Heritage No. 155.

Daewondang, a bakery established in 1968, is a must-visit destination for anyone traveling to Chuncheon. The spacious store showcases a wide variety of breads. Signature items include the Guro mammoth (streusel mammoth bun), richly filled with ingredients, buttercream ppang (buttercream bun) packed with soft cream, and saengcream choux (fresh cream choux). The store also features a seating area where customers can enjoy coffee with their bread. It's located 1.7km from Namchuncheon station.

Riverain is a cafe located a 10-minute walk from Chuncheon Station. The cafe offers a view of Chuncheondaegyo Bridge, Jungdo Island, and Uiamho Lake. The night view of Chuncheondaegyo Bridge is especially beautiful. The building is entirely made of windows, so one can enjoy tea while looking at the river from anywhere. There is also a large lawn out front. In addition, the 3rd and 4th floor rooftops are no-kids zones, and pets are allowed in the outdoor space. The signature drinks are Riverain Spänner and Bean-Powder Spänner, and there are a variety of desserts too.
