The area became a popular attraction after appearing in the popular drama series "Tale of the Nine Tailed (2020)" and several other television shows. Hangang Central Park, which was constructed as a result of the development of Gimpo Hangang New City, boasts a fabulous trail from the Golden Waterway by the waterside path all the way to Laveniche Shopping District. Golden Waterway Laveniche continues along a 2.68-kilometer-long trail and displays a variety of sceneries from the south to the north. Designed after Venice, the city of water, Laveniche features many different shops along the water that runs 1.7 kilometers for a round trip. Various living goods shops, restaurants, and pubs are set up on both sides of the water near the Central Plaza so it is a perfect place to spend time healing after a light stroll and shopping.

Ganghwado Jejeokbong Peace Observatory was constructed in the northern area of the Civilian Restricted Zone in Cheolsan-ri, Yangsa-myeon. Entry to this area was strictly prohibited to the general public until 2008. The observatory allows visitors to take a closer look at the natural beauty the lies beyond the northern border. The observatory consists of four floors. The basement and fourth floor are used by the military; the first floor sells regional produce from Ganghwado Island and specialty products from North Korea, and the second and third floors make up the audio-visual rooms with materials related to North Korea and an observatory where one can observe the Northern territory from afar.

Opened in October 2007, the National Institute of Biological Resources is the largest collection preservation facility in Northeast Asia. The institute collects, preserves, manages, and conducts research on biological resources with the aim of growing into a focal biological resource hub of Northeast Asia. The institute is comprised of a spine-shaped collections and research center and a leaf-shaped exhibition and education center. The exhibition hall has 3,905 specimens of 1,287 native species on display. Korea's diverse ecosystems are recreated as highly detailed dioramas at the exhibition hall. A small restaurant is located inside the research center, and the extensive grass field in front of the institute provides an ideal picnic spot.
