Mokpo Jayu Market is located near Mokpo Station and is started out as a gathering of individual shops opened and operated by local owners. As its name suggests, it is a café that presents bread made from moohwagwa (figs), a specialty of Yeongam. Its two-story building and spacious garden give off a fresh atmosphere. Outdoor terrace seats on the second floor allow visitors to enjoy the magnificent view of the surrounding scenery. The fig bread made in the shape of a fig contains a lot of dried figs, making for a perfect snack. The premium gelato with five flavors—vanilla, dark chocolate, mango, black sesame, and ricotta cheese—is also popular. Established in 1979 in Haenam, Jeollanam-do by the Bohae Brewery, Bohae Plum Farm (Bohae Maesil Nongwon) is the largest green plum farm in Korea. Every spring, as maehwa (apricot flower) blossoms begin to bloom on maesil (green plum) trees, the brewery opens the farm to the public, providing an opportunity to enjoy the beautiful blossoms, and also to purchase fresh plums. To this day, the brewery produces and sells various maesil products made with the plums harvested from the farm.

The National Research Institute of Maritime Cultural Heritage is located along Gatbawi Culture Street in Mokpo. Managed by the Cultural Heritage Administration, it is the only marine museum in Korea to display marine cultural relics. Opened in 1994 as the National Maritime Museum, the name was changed in 2009. The two-story institute houses over 2,000 relics excavated from the sea around Korea. There are four main exhibition halls as well as an outdoor exhibition space and one special exhibition hall. Through the exhibits, visitors can see ships from the past as well was learn about the lifestyle and culture of people living in coastal villages.

Namnong Memorial Hall is an art gallery dedicated to the works and memory of Namnong Heo Gun, a famous artist of the traditional Southern School of Painting. The hall was opened as an art gallery by Namnong Heo Gun (1908-1987) himself in 1985. The Southern School of Painting features natural scenes with accompanying calligraphy. The hall now features over 200 works of art by some of the most famous Korean paintings in history, as well as pottery from China and Japan.
