La tombe de Bonghwangdae se trouve dans le complexe des tombes de Nodongdong. Cette tombe est unique du fait que son nom ne termine pas en –neung ou en –chong, ce qui signfie « tombe » en Corée. Elle n’a pas non plus été nommée d’après la région où elle a été découverte ou les reliques qui y ont été trouvées. Le nom de cette tombe, « Bonghwang », se rapporte à la légende du roi Wanggeon de la dynastie Goryo.

Un maître du Feng-Shui dit au roi Wanggeon qu’il devrait détruire le royaume de Silla, car son territoire avait la forme d’un bateau. Le roi Wanggeon, d’après la recommandation de l’expert, l’envoya à Silla. Le maître dit au roi de Silla que comme son territoire prenait la forme d’un Bonghwang, un phoenix chinois, celui-ci devrait ériger de nombreuses montagnes en forme d’oeufs d’oiseau pour le bien du royaume. Le roi fit donc bâtir de grandes tombes. Mais ces tombes nouvellement créées provoquèrent la destruction du royaume, car d’après les principes du Feng-Shui, cela signifiait que le bateau était surchargé, et il fit finallement naufrage.

La tombe de Bonghwangdae fait 82 mètres de diamètre et 22 mètres de haut. Elle ressemble davantage à une petite colline qu’à une tombe. Mais étant donné la taille de la tombe, on peut supposer que ce fut celle d’un roi.

The restaurant of Pyeongyang Naengmyeon has been operated through two generations and thus is very famous in Gyeongju. Its noodles are hand-made from starch of Korea-grown buckwheat and potato and broth is made by deeply boiling beef bones. So, noodles are chewy and broth tastes rich and clean.

Se trouvant sur un rocher près d’une rivière, Poseokjeongji (Pavillon Poseokjeong - superficie de 7.432㎡) a été désigné comme monument privé Nº 1, le 21 janvier 1963. Originellement, il était situé où se trouvait la villa royale de la dynastie Silla (57 B.C.~A.D. 935), mais le bâtiment n’existe plus, et c’est seulement une voie naviguable en pierre de la forme d’une fontaine qui reste là. Poseokjeongji (Pavillon Poseokjeong) a été appelé ainsi à cause de sa forme de cannelures de roches, aérée et de la forme d’un ormeau. Poseokjeongji (Pavillon Poseokjeong) est faite de 63 matériaux rocheux. Il est large de 35cm, profond de 26cm de moyenne, et sa longueur totale est d’environ 10 mètres. On raconte que l’eau de la Vallée Namsan y a été apportée par une tortue en pierre, qui la faisait sortir de sa bouche mais la tortue en pierre n’existe plus de nos jours. C’est le lieu où les rois de la dynastie Silla étaient venus avec leur personnel officiel et nobles. On dit aussi que ceux-ci laissaient flotter leur verre de vin sur l’eau qui s’écoulait le long des cannelures de pierre, et ils y récitaient des poèmes avant que leur verre ne s’approchent d’eux en flottant. A coté de Poseokjeongji (Pavillon Poseokjeong), la vallée Poseok était très bien aimée des gens de la dynastie Silla pour son eau pure et ses belles caractéristiques. C’est pourquoi, le palace villa of Silla a été construite là. De nos jours, il y a forêts de zelkova, des pins et des bambous qui conservent l’atmosphère intime et relaxante de ce lieu.

Huewon (休垣) Huewon is a cozy hanok guesthouse located in Seoak-dong, Gyeongju. Since Gyeongju had been the capital of the Silla Dynasty for about a thousand years, Huewon is surrounded by various cultural heritage sites such as Tomb of King Muyeol, Tomb of King Jinji, and Seoakseowon Confucian Academy with a serene atmosphere.
Built in the 1970s and renovated later, Huewon started its accommodations service around 2011. Entering the gate, one can see a square-shaped courtyard giving a very bright and warm impression, in the middle of which is an old beautiful magnolia tree that is popular among visitors.
The garden is well-arranged with flower trees and bonsai trees and decorated with vintage items such as an old well and a water pump. Behind the house, the surroundings along with the low-altitude Seondosan Mountain make for beautiful seasonal scenery.
This cozy and pleasant hanok house has been well-maintained with the will and care of the owner, preserving the traditional hanok features including columns, beams, and rafters of the ceiling that show traces of time past.
The guestrooms are bright and clean with a delicate fragrance.  Aside from red clay walls and clean beddings, however, there are no other additional facilities such as BBQ set because the guesthouse seeks to offer guests a quiet, healthy, and stable environment.
The guesthouse’s host, who has lived in Gyeongju for about 30 years and has engaged in promoting Gyeongju’s cultural heritages, willingly recommends to guests special travel destinations in Gyeongju and tells stories about Gyeongju.
In particular, the way to Dobongseodang Village School located behind Huewon is highly recommended by the host. Going up to the village school early morning, one is treated to a fantastic open view of Gyeongju in the fog. Moreover, Namsan Mountain, nicknamed Outdoor Museum since it is full of various Buddhist statues and towers here and there, is another recommended destination near the guesthouse.
