Ouvert le 10 juin 1994, le musée d’histoire naturelle marine à Busan, est le premier et le plus grand musée de sa catégorie en Corée. Le musée expose près de 25 000 espèces marines venant de 100 pays à travers le monde, incluant des espèces vivantes rares et des espèces natives en Corée. Le musée a ouvert un second hall d’exposition en avril 2003 et lancé le musée du village de pêche folklorique de Busan le 23 février 2007.
