La rue Haeparang-gil a été inaugurée par le ministère de la culture et de l'éducation physique, l'Office du tourisme coréen, un ensemble de 19 collectivités communales, etc. Il s'agit d'une des plus grandes rues du pays, so nom signifie 'la marche accompagnée du soleil de la mer de l'Est et de la mer'. Cette rue s'étend  à partir du parc Haemaji de l'île Oryukdo de Busan jusqu'à l'observatoire Tongil de Goseong dans la région Gangwon-do. 
Ce festival a débuté le 7 mai dernier (2016) avec la cérémonie d'ouverture officielle de la rue Haeparang-gil, le départ de l'équipe Ieumdan à Busan et dans d'autres régions comme Ulsan, Yeongdeok, Goseong, etc. Cet événement a pour but de parcourir la rue Haeparang-gil, d'une longueur de 770 km.
