Chaque année, le festival des arts du spectacle de Séoul (FASS) fait le buzz parmi le public et les média en présentant d’importants spectacles contemporains de la Corée et de nombreux pays, englobant le théâtre, la danse et les arts multi-disciplinaires.

Créé en 2001, le FASS est l’une des plus prestigieuses célèbrations artistiques et culturelles en Asie. Le festival a pour but d’établir un standard international pour la scène artistique contemporaine, et il est devenu une plaque tournante de l’art du spectacle international.

En automne, des artistes de diverses parties du monde apporteront leurs spectacles inspirés jusqu’à Séoul, permettant aux visiteurs de s’immerger dans les arts et de découvrir la passion des créateurs professionnels.

Théâtre des arts Arko (아르코예술극장)

Ouvert le 1er avril 1981, le théâtre des arts Arko a pour objectif de « stimuler l’art du spectacle, obtenir des espaces de spectacle pour promouvoir sa popularité au sein du public, et de soutenir les scènes et les organisations d’art pur connaissant des difficultés financières.

Au cours de 24 dernières années, il a apporté une immense contribution dans le développement de l’art du spectacle coréen. A la fin de 2004, il avait organisé 20 581 spectacles et attiré 4 millions de spectateurs.

En tant que point central des arts du spectacle, le théâtre a également commencé à attirer une quantité de petits théâtres et a joué un rôle essentiel pour promouvoir les arts du spectacle et peupler d’artistes Dondsung-dong. Aujourd’hui Daehangno (la rue de l’université) héberge plus de 58 théâtres offrant chaque jour des spectacles colorés, ce qui en fait un lieu incontournable des arts du spectacle en Corée.

Le Seoul Dance Festival se tient en novembre chaque année. Cet évènement, qui avait à l’origine pour nom « Korea Dance Festival », a été créé afin de développer la danse artistique coréenne.

Jirisan is one of the representative Korean restaurants in Insa-dong, an area known for its traditional culture. One of the trademarks of this restaurant, besides its amazingly delectable bean and tofu dishes, is a wooden sign that welcome guests into a neat and cozy interior.

Each day, fresh beans are ground at the restaurant to prepare dishes such as soybean paste, soft tofu, and bean-curd tofu stew. Bean-curds are prepared by using seawater, which gives the tofu a unique flavor. The fresh and clean taste of the tofu is one of the many reasons that choosey tofu aficionados flock to the restaurant.

Not just limited to tofu, Jirisan presents customers with a full-range of side dishes such as kimchi, japchae (glass noodles with sautéed vegetables), cucumber kimchi, seasoned seaweed, braised lotus roots, roasted yellow corbinas (a type of fish), leafy greens, bean-curd stew, and more. The restaurant gives visitors a chance to experience a hearty traditional Korean-style meal, but has thoughtfully toned down its seasonings to appeal to a wider audience (particularly those not used to spicy foods).

One of the recommended menu items is the Jirisan set meal, which offers diners the chance to sample foods that are popular in the Jirisan region. Adventurous diners may want to try the sea urchin soup or dried Pollack soup.

The restaurant, originally a traditional Korean house, has been modified over the years to better suit the needs of its customers. The walls surrounding the structure were removed and a glass ceiling was installed to allow guests to enjoy the natural light of the sun as they sample some of the area’s best traditional Korean cuisine.

Le pavillon Nakseonjae est composé de 6 espaces en façade et de 2 espaces sur les parties latérales construit sur le modèle 'ikgong'.
