La statue de l’Amiral Yi Sun-Shin à Gwang Hwa mun a été installée le 27 avril 1968. C’est une statue de bronze de 17 mètres (6,5 mètres pour la statue et 10,5 mètres pour la base). En face de la statue, il y a une miniature d’un navire que l’amiral a inventé et à chacun des deux côtés, il y a deux tambours qui étaient utilisés pour encourager les soldats sur le champ de bataille.
La statue représente un très grand symbole car Yi Sun-sin a été largement honoré et sacré héros national parmi les Coréens. Durant la guerre Injin, il a gagné une série de batailles contre les navires japonais grâce à son charisme remarquable, ses exceptionnelles stratégies et ses brillantes tactiques.

La statue est debout à la porte, au milieu de la Corée, portant une épée à la main droite symbolisant son activisme et son patriotisme. Montée sur 10,5 mètres de hauteur, au milieu du boulevard Sejong-ro, elle se repère facilement. Les automobilistes passant sur la route ou les visiteurs à pied passant à côté, peuvent le voir ainsi que le bateau et les tambours en bas du socle.

The main building in Seoul is a traditional Korean cultural space renovated by Jeong Yeong-jin, a human cultural asset, from a hanok with a history of 130 years. Especially, Daecheongmaru adds the beauty of the margins of hanok to give you a sense of refreshment. As the old scholars did, sitting on the pavilion makes the time flow slow and the wind that passes over the Sotdae feels special.
In addition, you can experience the beauty of Korean tradition with various programs such as tea ceremony, jjimjilbang, royal robes, and kimchi-making along with traditional Korean food. Rakkojae's accommodation, reminiscent of a nobleman's house in the Joseon Dynasty, is well-kept and comfortable that it is comparable to a luxury hotel, and the natural jade-covered ondol rooms and firewood jjimjilbangs made of cheongito provide a healthy journey for many guests.

Le 1er août 2009, la nouvelle place Gwanghwamun, située au centre de la ville historique de Séoul, a été inaugurée et se présente depuis en harmonie avec le palais Gyeongbokgung et le mont Bukaksan. Un espace de vingt hectares relie désormais la porte Gwanghwamun et la place Cheonggye.
Près du parc Sejong-ro, on trouve notamment la partie « Yukjo Street » qui est la rue principale du vieux Séoul (officiellement connue sous le nom de Hanyang).
La place est notamment réputée pour sa fameuse statue du roi Sejong le Grand et la statue de l'amiral Yi Sun-Shin.
La place propose des installations d'eau dont des fontaines et jets d’eau. La rivière Cheonggyecheong propose également un sentier pédestre reliant la rivière Cheonggyecheon et le palais Gyeongbokgung. La place Gwangwhamun, en tant que place centrale à Séoul, propose régulièrement des festivités pour le public international.

Seongsim Arts & Crafts (청원산방-성심예공원)

Créé en 1981 à Samcheong-dong, Seongsim Yeogongwon est un studio d’art établi par Sim Yong-sik, qui a été désigné trésor culturel immatériel par la ville de Séoul. Il travaille sur diverses fenêtres et portes traditionnelles avec ses étudiants, et en fait la promotion en Corée et dans d’autres pays. Dans la terminologie des Hanoks, le « daemokjang » désigne la charpente de base d’une maison, alors que le « somokjang » se réfère aux portes, fenêtres et autres qui ajoutent quelque chose à la charpente. On trouve des portes et des fenêtres magnifiquement décorés partout dans la maison Seongsim Arts & Crafts : des portes qui peuvent être pendues au mur, des fenêtres décorées de fleurs de cerisier, des fenêtres en forme de peigne, et bien d’autres.

Les visiteurs peuvent également admirer de très belles oeuvres d’art à l’occasion de diverses expositions organisées à Seongsim Yegongwon. L’entrée est gratuite.

Korea Samgyetang serves up delicious samgyetang (ginseng chicken soup) made using only 4-year-old ginseng cultivated in Geumsan (a town famous for its ginseng) and chickens raised on local farms.
