Située au coeur du marché de Namdaemun (le plus grand marché de gros en Corée, très prisé des touristes), la Fashion Town de Samick accueille 1 500 boutiques, réparties sur 14 étages dont 5 au sous-sol. Ouvert en 1985, ce haut lieu du shopping propose pratiquement tout, de l’habillement (femme, homme et enfant) aux chaussures et accessoires, pour les marchands de gros et les particuliers.


La Fashion Town de Samick est surtout connue pour son grand rayon enfant, baptisé Seoul Won Children’s Clothing (Vêtements pour enfants Séoul Won) situé au rez de chaussée, et son énorme rayon chaussures au sixième étage, différent de tous les autres magasins de chaussures de Namdaemun. Au neuvième étage se trouve le food court, et la galerie marchande MBIC du premier sous-sol propose toutes sortes de produits dérivés sur le thème de vos stars préférées de la Hallyu. On y trouve entre autres des coussins, des carnets, des tasses, des t-shirts, des cartes postales, des autocollants, des accessoires pour téléphone portable et des stylos à l’effigie des acteurs de Muhan Dojeon (Challenge infini) et de bien d’autres stars du moment.

Hyundai Kalguksu is a kalguksu (handmade knife-cut noodles) restaurant that has been in the family for two generations (1982). The restaurant is extremely popular among people working at nearby businesses, thanks to the rich flavor of the broth. Anchovies, dried pollack heads, and kelp are simmered for many hours, and then, other ingredients are added: soft noodles and various vegetables including pumpkin, onion, and green onions. The restaurant is famous for the exquisite taste of its kalguksu, as well as for its large servings. Just one bowl is enough to satisfy a starving man, but if you are still hungry, don’t hesitate to ask for more rice or noodles for free. Another unforgettable specialty here is kimchi. You will also be able to enjoy geotjeori (freshly made kimchi) and kkakdugi (sliced white-radish kimchi), which is fermented for about three days.
