« Solmeo » tient son nom d’une petite pinède. C’est là qu’est né le premier prêtre coréen, Saint Kim Dae-gun Andrea le 21 août 1821 et où il vécut jusqu’à l’âge de 7 ans, où il fuit les persécusions et suivit son grand-père jusqu’à Handeok-dong, Yong-in (Golmaemashil). C’est là où vécurent quatre générations : son arrière grand-père Kim Jin-hu (martyrisé en 1814), son grand-oncle Kim Han-hyun (1816), son père Kim Jae-jun (1839) et le prêtre Kim Dae-gun lui-même (martyrisé en 1846). Il fut sélectionné comme étudiant en théologie à Golmaemashil et fit ses études à Macao. En 1846, il fut ordonné prêtre par l’évêque Ferréol de Shanghai dans la cathédrale Kim G Hang. Après son retour en Corée, il travailla à Yongin jusqu’en septembre 1846, où il fut jugé, exécuté et mourut en martyre à l’âge précoce de 26 ans. Le pape Jean-Paul II le canonisa durant sa visite en Corée en mai 1984. A Solmoe, la statue du prêtre Kim dae-gun ainsi qu’un mémorial se dressent sous la pinède, et ses reliques se trouvent dans la cathédrale non loin.
