Es la puerta del norte y, al mismo tiempo, puerta principal de la Fortaleza Hwaseong de Suwon. La palabra “Jangan” significa capital, en este caso haciendo referencia a ser otra capital del país. Esta puerta es la principal entrada de la fortaleza porque el rey llegaba de Hanyang (Seúl) a Suwon por esta puerta. Se destaca por ser más grande que la Puerta Sungnyemun (Namdaemun) de Seúl.

Se encuentra localizado hacia el nordeste de la Fortaleza Hwaseong (designada Patrimonio Cultural de la Humanidad por la Unesco), y antiguamente ha sido un campo de entrenamiento militar por su ambiente estratégico y abierto, desde donde se puede observar todo el interior de la fortaleza. Por ser un espacio enorme, actualmente es utilizado como el área de tiro con arco y los turistas tienen la oportunidad de experimentar el arte marcial tradicional gukgung.

La puerta Changnyeongmun, puerta este de la Fortaleza Hwaseong, es similar en forma y tamaño a la puerta Hwaseomun. El gran punto de interés de esta puerta es la placa a la izquierda de la puerta, que tiene grabados en granito visibles aún hoy, mientras que las placas de las otras tres puertas ya se han desgastado.

Abierto en mayo de 2001, el Estadio de la Copa Mundial de Suwon cuenta con una capacidad de unos 43.000 espectadores. El diseño de su cubierta está inspirado en la imagen de un pájaro en su nido. Los asientos fueron diseñados a semejanza de la Fortaleza Hwaseong. Albergó partidos de la Copa del Mundo de Fútbol de Corea-Japón 2002, y el estadio está actualmente abierto a los visitantes.
