La Calle de las Artes de Gwangju es una calle de 300 metros donde la gente puede experimentar y sentir la cultura propias de la ciudad de Gwangju, con el objetivo de desarrollar la tradición local, exhibiendo sus artes y artesanías. La calle está ubicada tras la escuela primaria Jungang desde la estación de policía Gwangju Dongbu. Aquí podrá encontrar las auténticas artes finas coreanas como cuadros, porcelana, caligrafía y artes tradicionales, etc. Todos los sábados se abre el mercado de artículos usados, que es famoso por sus piezas artísticas únicas. Los coleccionistas de todo el país se reúnen aquí para exponer sus colecciones, como materiales de caligrafía antigua, monedas antiguas, peines de piedra, cerámica, esculturas de madera, pinturas tradicionales, libros antiguos, tinta, sahumerios y otros artículos que fueron utilizados en el pasado. También forman parte de las atracciones los cuentos de los coleccionistas acerca de sus artículos y colecciones. Además, hay artesanías hechas a mano y artistas famosos que presentan sus piezas artísticas. Disfrute de los espectáculos y exposiciones que representan esta calle. La exposición de artes Mudeung tiene horarios diferentes según los distritos, y también funciona un lugar para eventos y festivales culturales. La exposición al aire libre fue fundada en febrero de 1995 y presenta exhibiciones diurnas y nocturnas con distinguidas pinturas y esculturas de gran valor artístico. En este amplio espacio para exposiciones hay 32 cabinas, y siempre podrá encontrar exhibiciones programadas, exposiciones especiales y muchos tesoros culturales de gran valor. Todos los sábados, la calle prohíbe el tránsito de vehículos para que la gente pueda reunirse y compartir la cultura y el arte.

Songjeong is famous for its tteokgalbi (grilled short rib meat patties), which is one of the five must-eat food of Gwangju. There are many tteokgalbi restaurants around Gwangsan district office, but Songjeong’s history goes back to 1976 and making it the original store.

A good tteokgalbi is made by mixing the meat of beef short ribs and pork bone ribs in a one-to-one ratio and adding acacia honey to make the meat both tender and chewy. The dish is also reasonably priced. The secret to the delicious meat is the sauce, which is made with about 20 natural ingredients like kelp, radish, and green onion and no artificial seasonings. Also a pride of the restaurant is the broth made from pork bones which comes with the tteokgalbi.
