Seongpanak es un volcán parásito de la isla de Jeju. Los volcanes parásitos son creados cuando el volcán hace erupción y la lava que se halla bajo altísima presión estalla en un cráter secundario en algún punto de la ladera, formando un nuevo volcán de menor dimensión. La isla de Jeju tiene más de 350 volcanes formados de esta manera. Seongpanak se sitúa a 1.215 m de altura sobre el nivel del mar y su nombre proviene de la forma en que acantilados verticales se extienden por unos 500 m semejándose a una fortaleza (seong) hecha de planchas de madera (pan). En Seongpanak, hay un espeso bosque primitivo que crea un ambiente único al lugar a lo largo de todo el año. La senda de excursión se traza firme y ancha, pero no es tan fácil caminar por ella por la gran cantidad de piedras. En primavera, las azaleas crean un manto rosado que recubre el área y combina armoniosamente con las claras cascadas del lugar.
