The oldest traditional market in Eunpyeong-gu, Seoul, is also the capital’s only fifth-day market (held on 5th, 10th, 15th, 20th, 25th, and 30th of the month). It is divided into indoor and outdoor spaces. The former offers a comfortable space for shopping regardless of the weather. Like any good traditional market, Daerim Market offers vegetables, fruits, meat products, seafood, grain, and clothing at affordable prices. Visitors are recommneded to visit the restaurants hidden throughout the market, such as Halmaejip, a 50-year-old restaurant serving excellent banquet noodles, japchae, and tteokbokki; and Wooyirak, which serves pancakes with cream makgeolli (unrefined rice wine). King Sejong The Great Museum is a cultural complex located in the heart of Seoul, near Gwanghwamun Plaza.The Hangeul Room exhibits documents published during the reign of King Sejong, the Science Room displays Cheugugi and celestial planisphere, and the Korean Traditional Music Room showcases various traditional Korean musical instruments. The Biography Room features Portrait of King Sejong and paintings depicting scenes from his life. Outdoors, there are statues of King Sejong, the scahe sundial, the clepsydra, and Cheugugi.

Alternative Space Loop (also known as the “Loop”) is one of few alternative space in Korea, opened in February, 1999. It is a non-profit gallery that provides exhibition space and support programs for young and promising artists, and is currently being supported by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Arts & Culture Education Service. Since opening, many exhibitions and performances are held every year, and the space has also engaged in diverse international exchanges such as Tirana Biennale and was invited to the Gwangju Biennale as an alternative art space in 2002.
