El Museo Marítimo está situado en el complejo turístico Musulmok, un lugar histórico donde el almirante Yi Sun-shin ganó una importante batalla contra Japón durante la Guerra Imjin (1592-1598). El complejo está conectado con famosos destinos turísticos de la costa sur, como el Parque Nacional Marítimo Hallyeosudo.
