El pabellón Gwanghallu fue construido en el período Joseon, y es parte del jardín Gwanghalluwon, que también incluye un lago cercano, el puente Ojakgyo y algunas islas artificiales. Los coreanos conocen muy bien este lugar como escenario de la historia Chunhyangjeon (publicada en español como La canción de Chunhiang). En mayo de cada año, el jardín recibe muchas visitas gracias al Festival de Chunhyang de Namwon, dedicado al personaje principal de la historia. 'Namwon Yechon is a 'hanok (traditional Korean house)' with 24 individual guestrooms built by the City of Namwon on a 40,000m² area. Despite being a 'traditional' Korean house, the guestrooms are designed to be comfortable like those of a hotel, since they have a bed and other necessary furnishings. The guesthouse also has guestrooms with a main floored room, which is very popular among the guests staying there in the hot summer. The Royal Suite Rooms have a separate bathroom in both the floor-heated room and room with a bed, making it possible for two families to stay in the same place. In the winter, the floor-heated rooms are heated by burning oakwood, and guests can experience how the rooms were heated in the old days in Korea. El Centro Nacional de la Música Tradicional Coreana es un lugar donde se puede escuchar la música tradicional y al mismo disfrutar de la naturaleza circundante. El Centro expresa en sí mismo la belleza de Corea. Comenzando por el edificio donde se realizan las funciones hasta los alrededores pintorescos, este espacio permite sentir es espíritu de Corea a través de la música.

Aquí se realizan funciones de música instrumental, pansori (ópera coreana), canciones folclóricas, orquesta de percusión samulnori, etc. y cada función es representada por los mejores artistas. El lugar donde se sitúa el Centro es la ciudad de Namwon, lugar de origen del estilo de ópera coreana Dongpyeonjae Pansori. Dentro del edificio hay una sala con materiales relacionados con la música folclórica y una galería de instrumentos tradicionales coreanos en donde se pueden observar cerca de 60 diferentes clases de instrumentos y fotografías de artistas famosos. Son especialmente interesantes el sogu (pequeño tambor) de Gangnyeong y el instrumento folclórico utilizado en el tradicional muak de la isla de Jeju. En la sala donde hay materiales de música folclórica se pueden encontrar aproximadamente 2.000 calses de objetos relacionados.

Además del festival, Gurye también es famoso por el turismo de balnearios del monte Jirisan y otras atracciones turísticas en los alrededores.

Templo Cheoneunsa en Gurye (천은사(구례))

Situado en Gurye, la parte sudoeste del monte Jirisan, y construido durante el período de Silla Unificada, el templo Cheoneunsa está asociado a Hwaeomsa, y es uno de los tres mayores templos budistas del monte Jirisan. Situado en el lado soleado de la montaña, el agua fluye por los valles que rodean el templo y un majestuoso pico le sirve como telón de fondo.

Se cree que el templo Cheoneunsa fue construido por el monje indio Deokun en el año 828, durante el tercer año de reinado del rey Heungdeok. Al principio fue llamado Gamnosa por estar situado al lado de un manantial de agua limpia y fresca. Durante el reinado del rey Chungnyeol, este templo fue considerado el mejor templo del sur del país. Después, el templo pasó a llamarse Cheoneunsa. Según la leyenda, cuando el templo fue reconstruido tras la invasión japonesa de la Guerra de Imjin (1592-1598), alguien mató una gran serpiente y entonces el manantial se secó. De ahí el nombre Cheoneunsa, que significa "desaparición del manantial". El templo alberga el Geuknakbojeon (un santuario budista) y una pintura budista llamada Amita Hubul Taenghwa (Tesoro Nacional), aparte del pabellón Suhongnu y la puerta Iljumun.
