Hajodae Beach, located in Yangyang-gun, is famous for the beautiful scenery of the deep blue ocean, soft sandy shore, a nearby lighthouse, and unique rock formations and stony islets. The beach is roughly 1.5 kilometers long, at an average x_width of 100 meters, and a coastal incline of 1.5 meters. Gwangjeongcheon and Sanguncheon Streams run into the ocean near the beach, creating slightly warmer waters than other areas along the eastern coast. During the summer season, visitors can pay to pitch a tent on the beach or in the pine forest campground. The beach is complete with a parking lot, shower booth, drinking fountain, and restroom among other amenities. The beach is open for swimming between July and August, and is the venue for many festivals and events throughout the year. Hajodae Pavilion, one of the Eight Scenic Sights of Yangyang, and a skywalk observatory are located nearby.

Seongyojang House, an 18th-century Korean nobleman's residence, is situated adjacent to Gyeongpoho Lake—hence its name "Seongyo", denoting "crossing by boat" ("seon" for "boat" and "gyo" for "cross" in Korean). The site preserves numerous artifacts, hosts a museum, and features a traditional Korean garden and pond. This is the skateboard park where singer Lee Hyori showed off her presence in the music video of the project group SSAK3, which was formed on the entertainment program "Hang Out With Yoo" with Rain and Yoo Jaesuk. The sensuous graffiti on the exterior walls catches the eye. A cool park for boarders and an interior full of casual board products exudes a unique free-spirited atmosphere. 'Heo Gyun and Heo Nanseolheon Memorial Park was established to honor the Heo siblings: Heo Gyun, the author of Story of Hong Gildong (a 17th-century novel, the first of its kind written in Hangeul), and Heo Nanseolheon, one of Korea's most esteemed female writers. This literary park features the Memorial Hall, the site of Heo Nanseolheon's birth home, a traditional tea experience space, and lush green areas. Every April and September, the Nanseolheon Cultural Festival offers puppet theater, exhibitions, children’s experience programs, and tea ceremony activities.

Ojukheon House was where Yi I (penname Yulgok; scholar and politician of the Joseon Period) was born. It was built during the early Joseon dynasty and was designated as a Treasure in 1963 for its historical value.

Inside the house is Mongryongsil, where Yi I was born. The household complex also features the household shrine (Munseongsa), the sarangchae (men's quarters), Eojaegak Pavilion, Yulgok Memorial Hall, and Gangneung Municipal Museum. Since 1961, the city of Gangneung has held a memorial ceremony at Yulgok Memorial Hall from October 25 to 26.
