Gwangju Pyeongchon Village, located north of Mudeungsan Mountain, is a cozy farming village made up of four villages Dongrim, Daman, Woosung, and Dangmoe. The village still has an excellence natural preservation, growing environmental-friendly rice in the fields and Punamcheon stream that runs through the middle of the village is home to fireflies and otters. The village also keeps the tradition of making pottery as the village was the place that made grayish-blue-powdered celadon during the Joseon dynasty. The village street corner offers visitors to Mudeungsan Mountain a place to rest with Mudol-gil shelter and Bandi lodging.

Baegyangsa Temple is a historic temple built in the 6th century located on Baegamsan Mountain. The Dinosaur Tracksite of Hwasun was discovered in 1999 during a land survery for the construction of Hwasun Hot Springs Area. Most dinosaur tracks found in Korea are located in coastal areas in cities like Haenam and Boseong, so the discovery in the inner region of Jeollanam-do was a first. Most prints here come from carnivorous dinaosaurs of the Cretaceous period. The site is famous for there being tracks from no fewer than five different dinosaurs, as well as for being one of the longest trails and most direct examples of the exact movements of the dinosaurs. The tracks of one dinosaur are the longest in the world, stretching for 40 meters. Based on the foot size of 20-22 centimeters with a stride of approximately 90 centimeters, it is estimated that the prints were formed by a 4-5 meter tall Koolasuchus. In addition to the canivorous dinosaurs, tracks were found of 12 herbivorous dinosaurs, as well as fossilized plants. These plants offer much assistance in the research of herbivorous dinosaur diets.

Hoemunsan National Recreational Forest (국립 회문산자연휴양림)

Hoemunsan National Recreational Forest, located in Sunchang, Jeollabuk-do, opened in 1993 with a daily maximum limit of 500 people. There’s a waterfall next to the rock gate near the entrance of the forest and a suspension bridge further ahead. Above the suspension bridge is an observatory that provides visitors with a panoramic view of the area. The 5.5 kilometer path to the peak has various types of trees and flowers and also houses many different types of birds. The forest has many facilities including a water playground, exercise machines, volleyball court, pagoda, walking trails, and hiking trails.

Hoemunsan Mountain (alt. 830 m) stands at the border of Imsil-gun, Sunchang-gun, and Jeongeup-si. It consists of three peaks — Hoemunbong, Janggunbong, and Gitdaebong Peaks — and stretches 8 kilometers from east to west and 5 kilometers from north to south. Because the Seomjingang River, flowing from Okjeongho Lake, surrounds Hoemunsan Mountain on two sides, the view from the peak is fascinating. There are many valleys popular for water play in the summer, drawing many visitors to the villages of Deokchi and Cheondam.

Yonggwolsan Sky Walk is a wooden trail built high up on the mountainside. It takes roughly 30 minutes to walk from the start of the trail to Biryongjeong Pavilion at the summit.

Jangseongho Tourist Area is located south of Naejangsan National Park, in Jangseong, known as the hometown of Hong Gil-dong, a Korean Robin Hood. The lake was made by the damming of Hwangnyonggang River, and holds up to 89.7 million tons of water, filled with many freshwater fish species. In addition, the walking path along the 603-meter-long embankment attracts many tourists with beautiful views of the mountains and lake. Cruise ferries and motorboats also cross the lake. Nearby attractions include Ibamsan and Baegamsan Mountains, Namchanggyegok Valley, Baegyangsa and Naejangsa Temples, Gosanseowon Confucian Academy, Bangjangsan Recreational Forest, and more.
