The market started in its current location in 1984, serving residents in the local areas, creating a small rustic vibe unlike what is found at larger urban markets. Markets are held on the 4th and 9th of every month, and there is everything from fish caught in Seongsan to meat, vegetables, clothing, and miscellaneous goods.

It is known for its unique geological formation, where hot lava cools down immediately upon meeting the sea. During low tides, visitors can see hidden scenic spots. The frozen lava covered with green moss, creates a spectacular view. In particular, the stunning sunrise view with Seongsan Ilchulbong Tuff Cone in the backdrop attracts a lot of visitors. Sehwa Fifth-day Market is one of the largest of its kind in eastern Jeju. Being a fifth-day market, it only opens on days ending in 5 or 0. It is at its busiest before noon, with many stores closing their doors by 14:00. This market offers an interesting glimpse into the lives of Jeju locals with its dazzling array of Jeju’s pride, seafood, along with stalls offering lifestyle goods, food, and side dishes. Don’t miss the Manna Sikdang here: This joint is famous for its tteokbokki, stir-fried rice cake, one of the most beloved snack dishes in Korea. There are other places offering snack fare near Manna Sikdang, so visitors are recommended to drop by and sample some Korean favorites. Note that Sehwa Fifth-day Market is situated to the left of Sehwahaebyeon Beach, so one can easily visit the two when in the area.

Bellongjang Market is a local flea market open to visitors and the local community that takes place in the small village of Sehwa-ri. The flea market takes place on Saturdays from 11:00 to 13:00, except on the 5th,10th,15th, 20th, 25th and 30th of the month, when the Fifth-Day Market opens. Bellongjang's name originated from Jeju Island's expression "bellong," which means a light shining from the distance.

Seopjikoji gets its name from its shape, jutting out to sea, with 'koji' being the Jeju dialect for a cape. Located just south of Seongsan Ilchulbong Tuff Cone, the cape is a popular tourist attraction. The tuff cone along with a beautiful vista of the ocean and fields of canola flowers can easily be seen from the peak of Seopjikoji. On top of the hill stands a beacon fire station, reaching 4 meters in x_height with a diameter of 9 meters, built using volcanic rocks. Behind the beacon fire station is Bulgeunoreum Volcanic Cone, vibrant with red soil. The white lighthouse atop the cone stands out in contrast. Seopjikoji has been used as a filming site for many Korean movies and dramas.
