La Escuela Confuciana Gyeongju Hyanggyo se ubica en las cercanías de la Aldea Tradicional Gyochon de Gyeongju. Se desconoce el año de fundación de esta escuela confuciana, pero se estableció durante la dinastía Goryeo para consagrar las placas conmemorativas de los sabios y eruditos confucianos, y para proporcionar educación secundaria local y educar a la gente que vivía en zonas rurales. Se dice que en el segundo año del reinado del rey Sinmun (682) durante el período de Silla, se estableció aquí el Instituto Nacional de Aprendizaje, una institución educativa que estaba a cargo de la educación y los rituales. Más tarde, durante la dinastía Joseon, la escuela fue renovada en 1492 (el año 23 del reinado de Seongjong) por Choi Eung-hyeon, el jefe de la oficina gubernamental de Gyeongju. Sin embargo, durante la Guerra de Imjin (intento de ocupación japonesa a fines del siglo XVI), el Pabellón Daeseongjeon, donde se guardaba la placa conmemorativa más importante, fue incendiado y la placa fue trasladada temporalmente a Dudeokam en Deoksan. En 1600 (el año 33 del reinado de Seonjo), Yi Sibal, el gobernador de Gyeongju en ese momento, reconstruyó el Pabellón Daeseongjeon y el Pabellón Jeonsachong y devolvió la placa a su ubicación original. En 1614 (el sexto año del reinado de Gwanghaegun), el gobernador Yi An-neul renovó el Santuario Myeongnyundang y al mismo tiempo reconstruyó los dos pabellones en los lados este y oeste del edificio para que fueran simétricos.

La Escuela Confuciana Gyeongju Hyanggyo ha sido designada Patrimonio Cultural Material de Gyeongsangbuk-do, y entre sus edificios que se conservan se incluyen Daeseongjeon, Myeongnyundang, Dongbang, Seobang, Jeonsicheng y Naesinmun. El Pabellón Daeseong, que tiene un techo a dos aguas y tres tramos en el frente y tres en los laterales, alberga las placas conmemorativas de los Cinco Sabios del Confucianismo, los Dos Sabios de la Dinastía Song y los Dieciocho Sabios de Corea. Durante la dinastía Joseon, la escuela recibió campos, esclavos y libros del gobierno y funcionó como institución educativa donde los instructores enseñaban a los estudiantes, pero ya no tiene ninguna función educativa. Named after Silla King Muyeol's daughter, Princess Yosuk, Yosukgung 1779 serves traditional Korean food. The resturant is run by the Choi family, who settled on the site of Princess Yosuk's house during the Joseon dynasty, and has passed on the restaurant and family recipes through 12 generations. All the foods served are made with organic ingredients, for a healthy taste that cannot be found anywhere else.
