La aldea se encuentra en la ciudad de Asan, de la provincia Chungcheongnam-do, designada como Patrimonio Folclórico de Importancia Nº 236. Comenzó a ser habitada hace aproximadamente 500 años. Conserva una gran cantidad de casas tradicionales con tejado de paja, muros de piedra (longitud total de 5,3 km), jardín con estanque, y otra variedad de objetos y artesanías de la antigüedad. En particular, la mayoría de las casas llevan el nombre del cargo social o de la región natal del dueño, tales como: Champandaek, Byeongsadaek, Gamchaldaek, Chambongdaek, Jongsondaek, Songhwadaek, etc., y las aguas que bajan de los valles del monte Seolhwasan son utilizadas para el estanque del jardín o contra posibles incendios.
Recorriendo por la senda del muro cubierto de musgo, de 500 m de largo, podrá deducir el clima histórico de la aldea, y también tendrá la posibilidad observar los diferentes tipos de árboles plantados en el patio de las casas, el albaricoquero, el árbol de caqui, de castaña, gingko, etc. Cuenta con una gran cantidad de materiales y patrimonios culturales, en la entrada se ubican los postes que protegían el pueblo, los molinos, etc. Comprende de un total de 60 casas, de los cuales 10, son de tejado que registran entre 100 a 200 años de antigüedad.
Por su gran valor histórico y tradicional, fue designado Patrimonio Folclórico de Importancia por el gobierno nacional, por la que está siendo conservada y protegida. Como son de propiedad privada, está prohibida su entrada; pero, en ocasiones, se admite el acceso recibiendo previa autorización de los dueños de casa. Recientemente, está siendo el escenario de rodaje de varias películas y telenovelas históricas, por lo que es frecuentado por muchos turistas.

Pungduck Old House is located in Oeam Folk Village. The name “Pungduck (or Pungdeok)” comes from the penname of Lee Taekju, the seventh-generation descendant of historical figure Lee Sajong who earned the penname “Pungdeok” while serving as the Governor of Pungdeok-gun, Gwanghae-do. The old house is “ㅁ”-shaped, with “ㄴ”-shaped building and “ㄱ”-shaped building right over it. Behind the main building is a knoll that serves as a wall of the house. Detached buildings called “sarangchae” and “byeolchae” are used as a guesthouse where guests can experience an old traditional Korean house. The "sarangchae" with area of 40㎡ has two rooms, one living room, a kitchen, and a bathroom. There is a toenmaru (narrow wooden porch running along the outside of a room). The “byeolchae” has a large spacious room, a kitchen, and a bathroom. There is a low wooden bench called “pyeongsang” in front of the “sarangchae” and “byeolchae.” Pungduck Old House is also well-known for its traditional red chili paste, so it offers a Traditional Red Chili Paste Class where participants can buy or make their own red chili paste, soybean paste, and grain syrup using traditional recipes. There is a fee for participating in the class, so make a reservation when booking.
