Situada a un kilómetro del pabellón Gyeongpodae, la playa Gyeongpo es un banco de arena formado entre el lago Gyeongpoho y el océano, y tiene una playa de 6 km de extensión cubierta de fina arena. Se trata de un punto de atracción turística muy bien conocido dentro de Corea por su perfecta combinación de belleza natural y reliquias culturales. La playa Gyeongpo es famosa por sus salidas de sol y luna, pero también lo es por muchas otras atracciones del área, tales como los bosques de pino (4 km) y rosas silvestres que crecen en diferentes lugares. Los aficionados a la pesca marina suelen salir en bote hasta los pequeños islotes de roca a poca distancia de la costa. Festival del Café de Gangneung (강릉커피축제)

El festival comenzó en 2009 y cada año tiene lugar en octubre. Este evento celebra la cultura emergente del café en Gangneung, una ciudad que en los últimos años ha acogido tanto a famosas cadenas de cafeterías como a pequeñas que lo preparan de forma artesanal. Actualmente, la ciudad dispone de unas 200 cafeterías (30 de las cuales tuestan personalmente los granos de café) y 7 academias donde aprender a preparar esta bebida. El festival celebra la cultura del pasado y la del presente con variados eventos, todos relacionados con el café, como exposiciones, programas para aprender a preparar café de manera artesanal, etc. Los emprendedores interesados en este campo pueden también apuntarse a los distintos seminarios sobre la industria del café que tienen lugar allí.
