The main ingredient, buckwheat, is delivered daily from Bongpyeong, the largest buckwheat producing region in Korea. Baby octopus is also delivered every morning from ports in Yeosu. Myeongdong Yeongyang Center is a 52 year-old specialty restaurant in Myeongdong. It specializes in samgyetang (ginseng chicken soup) and tongdak (roasted chicken). In 1960, Yeongyang Center has started to sell tongdak roasted on an electric rotisserie. Since then, the crisp and not-at-all greasy taste has attracted popularity among local Koreans and it has become a must-visit restaurant among foreign tourists. They use chickens provided by directly owned chicken farm and the owner of the restaurant thoroughly manages all the process of cooking even from the ingredients preparation level.
Their main menus are samgyetang and tongdak. The Samgyetang features its tender meat and thick broth after boiling for 2 hours and the tongdak features crispy and not-fatty taste of the well-drained chicken. Among the menus, sansam Samgyetang stuffed with wild ginseng powder is the most be-loved menu.

Changuimun a souvent été appelé Jahamun. C’était l’un des quatre petits portails du Nord entourant la ville fortifiée de Séoul au temps de la dynastie Joseon. A cause de la fermeture de Sukjeongmun, l’une de ces quatre portes, Changuimun au Nord est devenue très populaire, tant et si bien que les gens l’appelaient « la Porte du Nord ». C’est également la seule porte parmi les quatre à avoir conservé son état d’origine. Malgré ses petites dimensions (moins de 50 m²), son aspect est solide et robuste. Alors que Dongsomun, une autre des quatre portes, est décorée de phénix, Changuimun est ornée d’un poulet de bois entre ses chevrons. Comme le poulet était supposé être le pire ennemi du mille-pattes, le gens croyaient qu’un poulet de bois permettraient de surmonter l’influence néfaste du mille-pattes.

Temple Cheongansa (천간사)

Le temple Cheongansa fut construit en 1960 et re-construit en 2009. Il inclut de nombreuses pagodes et monuments : une pagode remplie de reliques sari de Bouddha ; une pagode Budotap, qui est un lieu de culte pour le moine qui a fondé le temple et ses reliques sacrées et un monument honorant la première dame Yuk yeong-su. Il fut décerné au temple le « prix du hanok 2011 » après sa reconstruction. Situé le long du chemin Dulle-gil sur le mont Bukhansan, le temple offre à ses visiteurs la chance d’apprécier un air pur et frais et un moment de repos avant de reprendre la randonnée.
