Situated in Donghae, Mukhohang Port opened in 1941 and used to be the most prolific trading port on the east coast. However, with the steady change in the economy, it has now become a center of fishing. A large wholesale seafood market at the port offers a wide array of freshly caught seafood. From early in the morning, merchants across the country gather at the market to purchase fresh seafood. Dried fish are also available.

Mukho Lighthouse, located atop Dongmunsan Mountain, opened in June 1963 as an unmanned lighthouse guiding ships into Mukhohang Port. The two-story lighthouse is 12 meters tall and is made from cement. The white lighthouse stands out against the blue sea and sky to create a fantastic image. The area surrounding the lighthouse has been turned into a small park. There is a large rock inscribed with a poem about the sea near the park entrance.

The Mukho Dojjaebi Festa takes place around Mukho Port Passenger Terminal and the beautiful East Sea. During the festival period, admission to Dojjaebigol Sky Valley is discounted at 50% off. Visitors can enjoy a range of tasty local foods, including makgeolli and dried pollack, as well as fun art programs and performances.

Buheung Hoetjip is a restaurant near Mukho Port specializes in serving fresh seafood caught the same day, exclusively using wild-caught fish for its menu. The restaurant closes for the day once the ingredients are sold out. Its signature dish is mul hoe (cold raw fish soup). Other menu items include modeum hoe (assorted sliced raw fish), daegu tang (codfish soup), and hoe deopbap (raw fish bibimbap). Be prepared for a waiting time that may exceed 30 minutes during lunch hours. Nongoldam-gil Street, formed in 1941, was transformed in 2010 with the "Nongoldam-gil Street" project by the Donghae Culture Center. With the help from the village seniors and local artists, the street became a canvas storytelling the history of Mukhohang Port and the lives of the villagers. There are also many cafes located along the street, perfect for taking a break to enjoy the view.

Pencil Museum (연필뮤지엄)

Pencil Museum, located in Donghae, is the first museum in Korea dedicated to pencils and has a collection of over 3,000 pencils from 100 countries worldwide. The exhibition consists of a pencil history corner and a themed exhibition that displays art pencils and character pencils. The museum also has an experience center where visitors can test out different kinds of pencils and a dedicated collection exhibit area. The 4th floor consists of an art shop and a cafe where one can enjoy the view of the East Sea.

Sanya near Mukho Port is famed for its ssambap (leaf wraps and rice) and offers two vegetable-centric dishes: saengseon gui (grilled fish), accompanied by fresh vegetables, and ssambap paired with a tradtional, rustic doenjang jjigae (soybean paste jjigae). Hapyeonghaebyeon Beach is a tranquil beach with a shallow shore lined with pine groves. The beach is only 20 minutes away on foot and 10 minutes' ride from Donghae Express Bus Terminal, making it a great beach destination for family vacationers and tourists. The 20-meter wide shoreline is 200 meters in lenth, all covered with white sand. The beach also has rocks along the coast that act as a natural breakwater, preventing rough waves from entering the shore, ensuring a safe and enjoyable environment for swimming.

Donganjae (동해한옥 동안재)

Donganjae is a hanok-style pension built of pinewood and red clay and located in Donghae-si, Gangwon-do. All rooms are ondol-heated and equipped with a shower booth and bidet, and offer scenic views from the numaru floor. The hanok uses geothermal heating (from 150 metres underground) which makes the rooms warm and cozy.
