Le Dondeokjeon, initialement conçu comme un espace diplomatique de l’Empire Daehan, est un bâtiment occidental à deux étages situé dans le palais Deoksugung. Le terme « Dondeok » signifie « favoriser ceux qui possèdent la vertu et faire confiance aux hommes de bien », les « hommes de bien » désignant ici les nations avec lesquelles il convenait de tisser des liens et de bâtir la confiance. Le Dondeokjeon a été construit à l’origine comme lieu des célébrations du 40ᵉ anniversaire du couronnement de l’empereur Gojong. Détruit par les autorités coloniales japonaises, il a fait l’objet de fouilles archéologiques à partir de 2017 et sa reconstruction a été achevée après environ six ans, avant d’être officiellement rouvert au public en septembre 2023. Récemment inauguré, le Dondeokjeon met en valeur son rôle historique en tant que lieu de diplomatie de l’Empire Daehan.
